My wife and I went to Guac N Tacos for the first time on February 24th. Its a very poor restaurant with bad service and bad food. A warning first off, their policy is to give priority to orders that are eat in as opposed to take out. When we finally received our order we had been waiting 20 minutes and there were people who came in, got their order, and finished eating it before we were given it. When I asked the server about why our order took so long, she offered no apology or explanation, indicating that there was a larger to go order before ours and said it wasn't that long. I told her how long we had been waiting and how many people we observed that came after us that got their order and even finished it and she walked away ignoring us. When we got home we discovered two items of our order were missing. I called up saying that we were missing the shrimp and chicken tacos from our order (we got the same server on the phone call), she asked what our order number was. When I told her, she immediately said "Oh, your the guy that complained it took so long." She then told me to give her my number so her manager could call me. We ate what we still had, two steak tacos, a chicken taco, and a por belly taco, with a side of chips and guac. The pork belly taco was disgusting, it was like a strip of uncooked bacon with some cilantro on it, and the other tacos were not much better. Since their recipe seems to be uncooked tortilla, whatever meat was ordered, and a wet cilantro and onion based salsa that immediately makes the torilla soggy, everything was disappointing. The chips were also fairly stale, but the guac was okay, though given the prepackaged containers, I wouldn't be surprised to find out its because they don't make it. Also I waited 2 days to hear from the manager before posting this, but no response. Maybe the server didn't give the manager my number or maybe they didn't care to call, regardless my wife and I will never go there again and we would warn others...
Read moreMy husband and I recently went to Guac N Tacos. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is very inviting. Being that my husband I are vegan, they have three different tacos on the menu to choose from. The tacos, beans, rice, and guacamole were good!
The one thing I would like to mention to change is serving food in single-use containers and the use of straws for the juices. The guacamole, rice, beans and salsa were all served in plastic containers.
For whatever reasons the owner decided to use plastic to serve food, it doesn’t allow for a nicer dining experience, as it felt more like carry-out. And at a time when 80% of our trash is ending up in the ocean causing major pollution issues and marine life are ingesting plastic and dying from it, it’s way past due to end single-use plastic. Please consider using other serving ware besides single-use for the food and please stop the use of straws! For this reason, I have to rate Guac N Tacos...
Read moreFound this gem as i was biking around Western Springs .. as I walked into this small quaint location, the first thing that hit my nose was the smell of clean that if you have been to Mexico, will know exactly what I'm talking about. Ordered their fish tacos dinner, mole enchiladas, and their original classic margarita. The tacos had a delightful crunch batter, perfectly cooked fish, topped with a slaw and red onions. The rice was fantastic and reminded me of my mom's arroz. The mole was a classic sweet and spicy flavor which you can really taste the chocolate in it and I must say probably one of the tastiest I've had outside my house. The margaritas were absolutely delicious and if that sweet and sour mix was homemade I'd like the recipe please! Didn't even matter what type of tequila you use cause it was just that good. I will definitely be back for another meal or...
