haven't been back in over a decade and this pizza still stands up next to sally's in new haven as my favorite pizza. the crust is as thin and crispy, without sacrificing any structural integrity to hold up whilst eating, with the perfect amount of chew that deteriorates with a perfect mini burned spots that just burst the umami of the sauce as you eat it. nice to know that something that set such an impression on me when i lived a stones throw away throughout high school hasn't changed at all. also i don't remember them having baklava 15 years ago but needless to say it was masterfully made and i would implore anyone with a sweet tooth to try it, it's not overly moist like some baklava and the nuts were evenly spread making for a nice...

Like many of today's pizza makers, they don't use enough ingredients. The toppings are sparse, and they are not well seasoned. Also, they don't use SAUCE in their red pizzas, just crushed tomatoes, and if the tomatoes are not perfectly ripe and sweet, which they're usually not, you get a very bland pizza without much taste. Maybe many people don't know the difference, but if you have a pizza that is properly made with all the right seasonings and sauce, along with plenty of well-made and cooked toppings, you'll know the difference immediately. Read morePeople here commenting saying the pizza is amazing either have horrible taste in pizza or they are holding onto what the place used to be years ago. I used to love this place, I even worked there as a teenager. Chuck, the former owner used to work at Pepe’s and learned his pizza making from the best. The Red Tomato used to be one of the best pizza places on the shoreline and even competed with some of New Haven’s finest. These new owners utterly destroyed what once was an amazing pizza and turned it into garbage. It’s sad to see what happened...
