Walker's Cafe — Restaurant in Madisonville

Service very sub-par, set down at table had water all over it, I cleaned off with napkins waitress came over with dirty wet towel wiped over table undoing what i just did. Placed order for catfish plates my wife asked for pinto beans never recieved the french fries were cold, the catfish , hushpuppies and cole slaw were good. Only got checked on once. Waitress finally came over said she would be cashier(even though there was some one standing at the register) , I said my wife wanted a scoop of ice cream (it comes with the meal) she was not going to offer it. She wanted to get paid and us to leave. When she brought the ice cream dropped off the ticket, at the bottom of the ticket suggested tip amount was listed at 20-25-30 %'s I found that funny, who would tip 30 or 25 % at this place? My wife said give $2 she wasn't going to offer me ice cream. I useally tip between 20 and 25% because locals will tip 1$. But i gave her 3$ about 15% more than was earned. Probably won't...

So we decided to stop and try this place because of the sign outside I said vintage sodas. When did I'm staying in grabbing lunch. Grandma had a Reuben sandwich which she absolutely loved and she's a picky eater when it comes to stuff like that everything was portions perfectly wasn't too bitter wasn't too sour everything was just right. I had a cheeseburger with onion rings and oh my God it was the best cheeseburger I've had in a long long time. It was perfect. My son had a chicken cheeseburger he's picky too and it was really really good he loved it. The two younger kids had a three piece Chicken Basket which was big pieces of chicken strips adequately portion fries. As soon as we walked in and it was a nice small little place the older gentleman sitting at a table welcomed us made us feel like friends. The waitress was very very very nice so if you're ever in Madison, Texas. You must stop at the Walker cafe a stop you...

Very filthy floors, walls, decor and restroom...yes, only one restroom that you stand and wait in line for, like on an airplane, only this one's filthy! OMG! Never returning to this place. Food on the floor. Waitress spilled food on me, the table, and the floor. This happened right in front of the shift manager and no compensation or apology was offered. The food is horrible. Very poor quality of food, service, and ambiance. Don't waste your time or money thinking you're going to enjoy a quaint vintage nostalgic dinner. This place should be shut down by the health department. The filth on the decor shelves is deplorable! The floors haven't been cleaned in years. Discusting! I walked from the restroom to the kitchen shelves to retrieve a paper towel to dry my wet hands. A wet mop stood next to the prep area next to frozen food on the counter. There's no way this place is serving safe...
