My wife and I went into the Pin High Restaurant to get a drink after playing 9 holes of golf at the Maggie Valley Golf Course. We walked into the restaurant and ask a waitress that had a green bandanna on her head if we could sit outside on the patio. She said "preferably not" and walked away from us leaving us standing in the middle of the restaurant. Finally we sat down at the bar not knowing where else to sit. For at least 10 minutes no one waited on us. Finally a young man asked us how we are doing and if we had been waited on. We said no we had not and we really wanted to sit on the patio but the waitress told us she preferred us not sit out there. He said he would clear a table and seat us on the patio. Finally the gentleman returned and said the reason the "rude" waitress did not seat us on the patio was there were others waiting to be seated on the patio before us. If we would have been told this in the beginning we would have just set at the bar and had our drink and left and I would not be writing this review. The gentleman took our drink order and we sat at the bar. The entire time we sat there the waitress with the green bandanna kept making remarks about how she hated her job. She bruded and pouted for several minutes continuing to make comments about us not waiting on a table. She even got some of the regular patrons to say things like "we love you", "don't let people bother you". In conclusion, we were treated rudely by this one waitress and she is an embarrassment to the Pin High Restaurant. Due the experience we had tonight, we will never return to the Pin High Restaurant and I will let everyone one I come in contact with know to not waste their time going to the Pin High Restaurant. We were very disappointed. I do want to finish by saying the gentleman that did finally get us our drinks did offer to buy them for us but we declined. He was a...
Read moreIt’s hard to review a restaurant when they’re working at 50% capability after the hurricane Helene catastrophe, but we were out doing errands and hungry. We found this place on Google maps and were surprised we had never discovered it before. It was a beautiful short ride up from Soco Rd even considering all the downed trees, so pretty in fact that it’s in my mind included as part of the restaurant experience. The menu was limited as could be expected, as were most of all the other restaurants brave enough to open at this time and a symbol of the fiercely strong community spirit. We both selected cheeseburgers from the short menu, I opted for a salad instead of fries but my daughter had the fries. The burgers were good, with caramelized onions and the bread really really good. I was very pleasantly surprised that the mixed salad was spring greens and rainbow radishes, fresh and unusual in a region where some iceberg lettuce and a slice of tomato passes off as salad in most restaurants. For my budget the ticket was a little high for two burgers and coffee, but they get an A for effort, good service and a relaxing, classy atmosphere as you might expect in a country club golf course. I don’t know at this point what the full menu during normal times looks like, but I’m certainly willing to try again and would encourage other diners to try as well, especially if you are seniors looking for a quiet , relaxing place to...
Read moreIf you are vacationing around Maggie Valley/WNC, I would definitely recommend AVOIDING this place. Though it’s located on a golf course, billboards advertise ‘public welcome’ - so we stopped by for lunch. I can’t remember encountering worse service in my life. For some reason we had 3 different servers throughout our visit, the first and second being incredibly rude and taking far too long to do their jobs despite the place being pretty empty. The third server wasn’t exactly rude, but seemed confused about basic requests like ketchup for our kid’s chicken tenders. During the long stretches we waited for service, server #1 (older blonde woman) was singing loudly, gossiping about someone, and hanging all over a man who was sitting at the bar. Seemed maybe intoxicated. Server #2, a brunette woman, brought my cocktail about 15 minutes after it was ordered (again, this is while the place was virtually empty and the staff was standing around laughing/gossiping the whole time). After dropping it off, she asked ‘Do you like it?’ and then shouted ‘She barfed, she barfed’ to the other staff in the kitchen. Completely bizarre and if the owners actually want vacationers to come, they should hire more professional staff who won’t make guests feel so uncomfortable and inspire reviews...
