La Mariposa — Restaurant in Magnolia

My coworkers and I were in town for work and our first dining option was permanently closed (we didn’t know until we were at the location). We searched for another dining option and was intrigued with La Mariposa’s menu items, so we went. We all loved the environment created by the atmosphere and the staff. The atmosphere was very welcoming and our server provided the kind of service and professionalism you would expect from a michelin star restaurant. Food was really, really good. To find such menu items in a small town was very surprising, but the taste was even more surprising. I had the hamburger steak which was perfect to me: perfectly grilled on the outside for that slightly charred flavor and soft, tender inside full of seasoning and awesome flavor but not at all salty. The prices were very reasonable as well! So earlier I mentioned we were in town for work. I needed my receipt to be able to be reimbursed by my workplace; however, I forgot my receipt. Mr. Carlos to the rescue! I contacted them the next night and explained my situation. Mr. Carlos was very attentive and patient and was so very considerate and understanding. Without hesitation, he stopped what he was doing to help me with my ridiculous request. Thanks to his help, I was able to get the receipts I needed. Went for Mother's Day. Had reservation for 12:30. Half of our party went in early and ordered and got their food in a timely manner. We went in at 12:20, got our drinks ordered, and said give us just a minute until we order. Thirty minutes later, I had to ask one of the wait staff twice to please take our orders. Orders were taken by 1:00, 1:15, maybe. Restaurant was very busy. By 2:30, we had still not gotten our food and every other table in the restaurant had had orders taken and food delivered after we had placed our order. In some instances, at least an hour after our orders were taken. By this time, the owner could tell we were getting frustrated and came to our table and told us we were lucky we had at least gotten our salads. Said they were very backed up. Now mind you, people had come in an hour after us, ordered and been served their food and we were still waiting. By 2:30, I had gotten mad enough, I told my son that if one more table got served before us, I would leave. Another table got served, I left. Talked to my son later, the food was not served to our table until 3:00, mind you our reservation was for 12:30. There was not much of a selection on the menu, so it should not have been that hard to get our food ready. Will never go...
