I wanted to love this place since it's so close to home, the shop is cute, and the cashiers are super nice. But after a couple of visits and trying several different cupcake varieties, it's been a miss.
My review is strictly for cupcakes from the bakery case (eaten day-of-purchase or after 1-day of storage covered at room temp)! I'm wondering if there are different bakers, and maybe the case items are not made by the same baker as the custom orders?
Consistently, the cupcakes were like wet crumbs. They all had tons of air pockets and just fell apart when biting into them. The cupcakes are also on the small side, compared to other gourmet cake shops. The amount of frosting is also super inconsistent, even amongst cupcakes of the same variety/decoration.
A couple of specific problems from my visits, too: On one visit, a Cookies & Cream cupcake had no cookies mixed into the batter or frosting; it was a plain vanilla-vanilla cupcake. I think someone forgot the cookies, and they just sprinkled some oreo dust on-top to cover their mistake. On another visit, the Almond-Raspberry and Funfetti cupcakes had frosting that fell off in a hard puck when you bit into it. I could pick up all the frosting in one piece. It had the hard consistency and taste of straight-up whipped butter, with some vanilla or almond added. I don't think there was any sugar in that batch of frosting. There's no way someone didn't notice this while piping the cupcakes, but they still made their way to the case.
I included some videos of the funfetti cupcake from my last visit to show the problems I described. Something like this should not be selling for $3.50 at a high-end bakery (or be sold at all).
Most of the reviews are good, so again I'm thinking there's just an issue with whoever is preparing cupcakes for the display case, as there's great feedback for custom cakes! I would not recommend this spot if you're looking for a grab-and-go...
Read moreI was vey impressed with the enthusiasm and helpfulness of Elouise and her employees. I ordered a cake in celebration of my husband's 75th birthday and wanted something special. It exceeded my expectations. It was chocolate cake with vanilla icing. The cake itself had excellent flavor and was very moist. It had a little thicker texture which was perfect. The icing was sweet and buttery. It wasn't overly sweet. It melted in your mouth. Elouise did an excellent job putting our family photos in edible icing on the cake. Two of the photos were very old. Both of them printed beautifully for the cake. Elouise "framed" them with icing so they looked like miniature pictures. Elouise is very talented and has a very unique style. I want to thank her and her employees for making this special cake for my husband. Another thing I would like to add is that I received prompt confirmation for my order and also heard back promptly when I had a question. I was also contacted by Eloise to see when I would be picking up my order. She sells ice cream and also has some fun gifts including some "blind" date gifts. Elouise also has plenty of tables set up for tea. It's a beautiful shop. She also has plenty of treats in her case by the counter. I was very pleased with this bakery and will definitely bring them my business again. I wish Elouise...
Read moreMy now husband and I visited the bakery and tried out a few cupcakes- loved the vibe, the owner and employees. We ordered our cake, the process was easy and quick online or in house. When we came to pick up the cake we were so taken aback by how beautifully done it was. Prices were affordable and weren’t increased simply for it being a wedding, honestly this was a big sell for us. Fast forward to our celebration and everyone loved the cake, everyone loved the finesse, the flavors. Thank you for making our special day, a spectacular day that we enjoyed and our guests enjoyed. Food for us mattered and this hit the spot, would 100% recommend and would absolutely one back for...
