I really hate to give a low rating. But, my wife and I both ordered chili cheese burgers. When we finally got our food, we, of course, opened our burgers to Dr them to taste. The bun inside was completely red with grease. The chili, which I'm pretty sure of was castlebury canned chili, was packed down nice and flat on the meat. Maybe they were getting close to the bottom of the can. Anyway, since we had brought my Mom and step Dad for lunch, at their request, we didn't want to make a scene and figured we'd just try to eat it. I got two bites of mine down and stopped. It was unedible. My wife got maybe three or four bites and gave up. We asked for a box to dump them in and brought them home and gave them to our dogs. Plus, our bill was almost $50 for the four of us. That's pretty bad considering two of the four people eating only had a burger. Like I said, I hate to give a low rating, but this time, I'm hoping to save anyone wanting a good burger the trouble of trying...
Read moreMy family and I are currently relocating to the Maiden area, my husband is already living there. He had heard many great things about Brookwood so, this past weekend we decided to give it a try. Oh my goodness, was it delicious, the fried chicken was the best I had ever ate and the home cooked potatoes "Penny Browns" were amazing. Everything was so good, we had to try out the breakfast the next morning, I have never seen such HUGE bisquits (Catheads my husband called them). I am not a breakfast person but, I must say I left nothing behind, I even went home and ate leftovers from the night before for lunch. If you live close by, are going through the small town, or even coming to give it a try, you will not be disappointed. One more thing, you will never know what it is like to have a staff wait on you that are so sweet and there to make the restaurant and your experience there pleasant and enjoyable. They are all so kind and truly HAPPY that...
Read moreAs of April 2021, my last two experiences have been bad. We used to love the food. Been eating it for years. I can’t comment on the service because we rarely ate in.
However, a couple months ago got some of their fried fish when it was their designated night of the week. I got it home (just two min away) and discovered that they pretty much sold me burnt breading. Very little fish meat and very overdone.
I chalked it up to a simple mistake and forgot it. Recently, I purchased a full rack of ribs on their designated “smoker” day. They were so done that I had to saw them with a knife. It was if I had a well done bone in pork chop covered in thick burnt sauce. The corn on the cob was overdone, the pintos were total mush, and the cornbread was nothing but flour biscuit dough. Not a grain of cornmeal to be found.
Please go back to the good old days. Somebody needs to get ahold of that kitchen and show...
