Oak Mill Bakery — Restaurant in Maine Township

Oak mill has been my husband’s family tradition since the 90s and him and I have been visiting all the way from Grayslake since 2012. After getting an email back from them today and waiting for the response for over 2 weeks after the incident and calling and waiting and they almost never pick up their phone, we decided to not carry on the family tradition with our kids. We tried looking past the awful service, to them making a NASTY cake that the family could not eat,spat out and having to throw in the trash, after waiting and playing their game to just get a response back to get a refund or credit for next time. I was even told I would be refunded 2 weeks ago that never happened...(so I was lied to over the phone) so I had to call back to ask where my refund is. Nobody knew anything and never got a call back. After playing back and forth then adding insult to injury to saying they cannot offer anything of the sort and said to “try a different cake next time your family will like instead”.... what? Devils food cake with Nutella mouse? What European family(kids) won’t eat chocolate and Nutella? We pray for your bakeries struggles...

5/10/24 Take care placing an order with Oak Mill Bakery. Their service is poor from the front desk associate to the baker Matt who when given constructive feedback showed zero concern about why I was unhappy. When asked who his boss was so couldI try and get communication that was responsive, he said "he was his own boss." WTH. I left emails and voice mail messages to reach someone so that they could confirm my custom text and I received one phone call at 432pm before they were closing. By the time I called back, they were closed. I called and emailed again. Nothing. His solution to my custom text issue was to cancel the cakes that were already on route. Don't waste your time and money with Oak Mill. They have been on the downward slide for some time now. Spend your money where they care about making you and your family happy. Life is too short to work with a company that has zero interest in keeping you as a customer. Oak Mill is on it's last legs. I regret trying to keep them...

Oak Mill Bakery has been apart of almost all of my life events... I know it sounds cheesy , but my parents hired Oak Mill all the way back for my high school graduation party. Then used it again for my college graduation. I got chocolate covered strawberries from there for the day I asked my wife to marry me. My mom and sister hired Oak Mill again to do my wife's wedding shower. Then my wife hired the crew again for our wedding cake. Next, when we found out we were having a baby, the baby shower was planned and Oak Mill was asked to.. you guessed it host the event. I can guarantee that when our future sons Christening and 1st Birthday come around... We will give Alex and Bogna a...
