From the moment we met Natalie and her team and walked into the Ocean View room, we knew this was THE space where we wanted our wedding to happen. And through the months of continuous indecisiveness, Natalie and her team were so abundantly supportive and helpful in making the important decisions regarding our wedding. The planning process became doable because Natalie and Tina were always willing to go the extra mile, no matter how simple the request. Besides the amazing team, it is truly wonderful to be given an option that was not a classical wedding menu, but really fit the Hawaiian 🌺 and seaside 🌊 vibe of the location. We were able to try many different menu items and make slight adjustments with our $150 credit before the wedding. Natalie and her team made sure that allergies were well noted and that special plates were being accommodated for our guests. Our guests raved about the food!
The staff during our wedding was competent, quick, and efficient. They accommodated our needs in storing our wedding cake the night before the wedding and allowed space in their schedule for our baking fairies to put on the final touches before our ceremony. We were able to add our own desserts for a dessert fee per person, and the kids loved the ice cream Hula pie that was provided by Duke’s!
We fell a bit behind in our schedule on our wedding day, so the only thing that could have been better was if we had actually had the chance to enjoy more of the wonderful and delicious food that we chose. Find a good photographer and get ready for a picture-perfect wedding!
Thank you so much, Natalie and Tina for your continuous support and dedication in making our day so special! We can’t wait to return for another seaside meal at Duke’s and to relive some moments of our special day....
Read moreSo I haven't updated this for a while. But I think it's time.
I hadn't returned to dukes for many years. As it's honestly just a tourist trap. Mediocre food, questionable service ( if you're in the dining room ) and food consistency issues. This is how it's been for basically since they opened at this location.
However I will write why I gave it 3 stars instead of 1 or 2.
If you eat in the bar area. Whether it be in the center bar or barefoot bar. The service is amazing. The few things that have stayed consistent and I mean exactly the same on any day.
Burger Cesar salad Chicken Hula pie
The burger is well seasoned. Good portion. Fries taste fresh. This has been consistent with quality and taste for all these years. You can't go wrong.
Cesar salad. Their dressing is amazing. The salad is big. It's fresh. It's always been one of my favorites. Add grilled chicken.
Grilled chicken. Their chicken has always been consistent and grilled perfectly. Well seasoned, perfectly cooked. Not over cooked still juicy. Can't go wrong with it at all.
So here's the reason for the 3 stars. It's very clean inside. Bathroom has always been clean. Bar is always extremely clean. Staff at the bar area is absolutely prefect. I cannot complain about it. I would have given it 4 if the dining room experience was better. But it just isn't. Service is always questionable. Since they change staff in that area basically every other few months. And I don't think it'll ever get a 5 from me. Specifically because the food is just not good... so many other places with the same views with far better food.
Would I recommend this place? Sure why not. If you want to look at the water it's a chill spot. And the bar area is...
Read moreWanting to come to this place for a long time after seeing so many rave reviews about the views and the foods from fellow Yelppers. We got our chance last week as the restaurant joined the Dine LA promo. We made our reservation for last Friday for dinner here.
Didn’t get to enjoy the view as by the time we got to the restaurant, the sun had already set. But the outdoor dining environment was good as we still got the glimpse of the night scene of the coastline. The whole outdoor area was heated so we felt very warm despite the cold night.
The foods were amazing here. We got a set dinner from Dine LA week promo. It was $45 per person with an appetizer, a main dish and a dessert. Definitely a good deal.
We got to sample all their customer’s favorite dishes. We got their coconut shrimp and calamari stick for appetizer and their Mahi fish and filet mignon for the main. For dessert, we got both their famous hula pie and key lime pie.
The foods were so good. The mahi fish was cooked in Hawaiian sauce accompanied with rice and macadamia nuts. The whole dish was so tender and delicious and I didn’t leave food on the empty dish. Filet mignon was also fantastic. With caramelized onion on top, the steak tasted extra delicious. I loved the sweet corn came with the filet mignon, it was so good.
Now the dessert. Both desserts were good but liked the hula pie more. The creamy pie came with rich chocolate and generous macadamia nuts. We didn’t hesitate to voraciously devoured the whole pie in no time.
It was a satisfying evening for us. After hiking in the Malibu Canyon and then have a delicious meal, that’s what I...
