Maharaja Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Mansfield

I really like this Indian restaurant. The lamb vindaloo is fantastic and I ask them to make it quite hot and spicy. It is very rich and flavorful and it most definitely brings the heat -- not for the faint of heart. I will typically order it with samosas and garlic naan. I have only been there on four occasions and haven't had the opportunity to venture elsewhere on the menu but I have plans to do so. They offered me the buffet on each visit. While I am sure it is quite tasty I prefer to order off of the menu as I tend to favor the hot and spicy stuff that you don't typically see in a buffet setting.

As for the authenticity I cannot say. I have never visited India and the only basis for comparison that I can muster is with other Indian restaurants that I have visited. On that front Maharaja Indian Restaurant compares very favorably.

If I can find a few criticisms it is that their prices are a bit higher than other Indian restaurants that I frequent, and they don't offer a garlic chutney. $16.99 for a lamb vindaloo is fairly expensive. Other dishes seem to be more reasonably priced and the buffet is very economical. But to be completely fair the portion sizes are generous. A side dish, a main dish, and an order of naan is enough to feed two people.

Well let’s start with we got there at 12:30 for lunch and there was no one in the parking lot 🤔🤔🤔 anyways after reading all the reviews we decided to head in for lunch the waiter met us the door and seated us everything on the buffet looked pretty fresh this is my first time for Indian food so I can’t really compare it to other Indian food but I enjoyed it We were there for probably an hour and the only ones in the restaurant the waiter never came over to clear any plates off accept to tell me he was stepping out for 5 minuets after we had a pile of five plates sitting on the table and two bowls you’d think he’d clear them off but no also We never got a refill on my Coke or our glasses of water After eating I went up to the register to pay they had raise the price from other reviews on yelp from $6.99 to $8.99 I told them about this when I was paying he said he didn’t know anything about this and they were not on Yelp so I paid the difference no worries the food was decent So we headed out to the car while we were getting in the car he came out and told us oh I did not charge you for the Coke you owe me $3 🤣🤣🤣 Well I can tell you I have never experienced this situation anywhere in the country so I handed him the $3 which I thought was kind a high for one small glass of Coke And the only reason I give it 2 stars instead of one was because the food was seasoned well and all tasty Have a...

We visited this restaurent on March 23, 2017. This has been the most horrible experience with Indian cuisine that we have ever had. If you're an avid food lover, and especially when it comes to Indian food, please DO NOT visit this place. The food was tasteless, no wonder we ordered salt/pepper for every dish. Appetizers were literally soaked in oil, or were over-cooked than they should've been. Chicken/Meat was bland and we had to leave it unfinished on the table. Laccha paratha and Roti were miserable. We drove 45 minutes from Manchester to Mansfield, hoping this would be a great experience based on the reviews that others provided, but it turned out to be untrue. The restaurent was being managed without a manager and when asked, the staff said the manager was busy someplace else and couldn't talk to us when we wanted to provide a feedback. They then offered a 10% discount just to make it up but we simply declined.
