We just found this place doing an internet search. It's a pretty 20 minute drive from Mankato, MN.
I went with my brother and we were excited to try it.
It's in a quaint small town. The parking is angled street, but it there were open spots.
The restaurant itself was inviting, nice, and clean. The menu had a good amount of options, but wasn't overwhelming.
The prices were actually reasonable and the descriptions of the menu items let you know what you'd be getting.
I ordered the corned beef hash skillet. The nice thing about this place as opposed to other restaurants, is that I don't like onions and pretty much everywhere I go, I want to try the corned beef hash, but they always put onions in it. When I ask if they can hold the onions, most of not all, say no, because it's already pre-mixed. But,,,, but ... This place said I could hold the onions, which means it isn't some pre-mixed crap. They used actual thin sliced pieces of real corned beef. There was so much beautiful corned beef in the skillet my bites with cheese, egg and diced potatoes had that corned beef in every bite.
It was so delicious, I would come back just for that. My brother got a skillet as well, with sausage gravy, peppers, onions, potatoes and cheese. I tried a bite of his gravy and it was phenomenal.
We both got pancakes as our sides. The pancakes were just good and fluffy, so they went perfectly with the dish.
We are already planning our next trip. Our waitress was kind, smiling, and helpful. It has a great hometown feel, where it's like your family.
It was our first time, but we felt welcomed and treated like kings. I highly, highly recommend this restaurant. We also want to experience their lunch as well.
On your way there take some of the beautiful farm back roads and just enjoy...
Read moreGot a burger with onion rings and a side salad. Wow!! The quality of everything was so crazy good. The salad was very high quality and the dressing was made in house. Burger was fresh and hand pattied, not the average frozen patty dripping with grease! Service was very friendly and checking in a couple times to make sure everything was good and to answer some silly questions like where they get their tomatoes because they actually tasted like tomatoes unlike most restaurants. I don't make it down to Mapleton very often but from now on a stop at Maggie J's is gonna be mandatory. I'm sad I didn't have room left in my belly to try the deserts, they looked and...
Read moreWe've tried it three times after church -- so sort of between breakfast and lunch. We are always offered our choice of either. I've had the bacon avocado salad, and the chicken fajita salads. The second one has LOTS more flavor than the one with bacon. My husband has tried the burgers and a breakfast. Big fan of both, although he didn't get quite as much food with breakfast as lunch (french fries with the burgers are a huge portion). But still it's plenty to eat. We've always had great service, and haven't had any food that was bad. Aside from one not too flavorful salad, everything else has been fantastic! Loved the...
