This is one of the “real” bakeries left, no fake chocolate frosting here!!! I’ve been going to this bakery for over 20 years I bet… it’s just up the street to the left … ( okay, if you’re driving east on Highway 36, take a right on Frost Ave, drive down until you reach English street, then drive around the Roundabout -exiting on English St…it’s Just a couple shops up on the left side of the street, you’ll see a tall sign that says Bakery and Liquor Store (they’re two different entities but located next to each other. The REASON I’ve gone to that bakery for so many years is because of their “Carmel Pecan Pastry or roll (whatever you want to call it. Of course when I went there today around 1:30 ish… They were ALREADY SOLD OUT…it’s better to show up early, but I suppose it varies everyday, no guarantees …🤗 or 😱! Another thing thing that calls me back there is the Birthday cakes they sell! The small individual size. They look like a mini birthday cake about 3“x 3” AND NOT JUST FROSTING ON THE TOP…BUT ALL 4 SIDES!!! I like to keep one around in my freezer, so when I in a mood for something sweet, I take the cake out of the freezer and put on top, one very huge scoop of vanilla ice cream (preferably Häagen-Dazs Vanilla or VANILLA BEAN!) Good good stuff if you get in the mood, it’s there at your fingertips, I had one in my freezer for a month now but I feel a SWEET TOOTH ALL...
Read moreI love Maplewood bakery, it’s very nostalgic when you walk in the doors. The Only bakery I’ll eat from at this point. This old world bakery is not like what you are most likely used to, bc this is quality. The donuts have a density to them, none of that light airy crap.
I’d tell you my favorites, but then too many ppl will want them! lol
Don’t listen to that bad reviews, I’ve literally been coming here for over 30 years. My mom has been going to Maplewood bakery since the 70s. This was a place my grandparents loved as well.
There is nothing better than a made from scratch pastry/donut from a recipe from our prior generations.
The owner Mike is a very hard working man that has kept this place running with quality products for over 20 years. I pray this place will always have an owner like him running it to keep the customers getting highly quality delicious baked goods.
Please support this small business that’s been in this spot for decades so they can keep it going.
It’s well worth the drive, in my opinion.
Many ppl don’t realize that there’s only 1 baker and he has health issues last year causing him to have to cut back his hours. I respect that he is only open 4 days a week to take care of his...
Read moreOne of the best kept secrets in town. While the building they currently lease out of is an older part of the original downtown Maplewood (Gladstone), the goods are second to none. I regularly have to assemble snacks for meetings in the early morning. I use different local caterers and breakfast shops depending on the venue. Every time I use a box of doughnuts from Maplewood Bakery I have people ask me where I got them from. While some comment that it doesn't have a place to sit, the building was only meant as a take-out facility. It isn't a cafe to stop in and sit down. I would highly recommend this to anyone for a few personal items on up to larger hosted events. I find it amazing that no matter how great my presentation materials are, everyone seems to remember the...
