This place has been awful since the ownership changed. Tonight was that last time they get a penny from me. I tipped 20% and paid online for my takeout order of chicken chow mein. There’s zero noodles. I mean none. It’s a whole onion stir fried with chicken gristle. I’m not exaggerating, it’s like it’s some kind of joke. It’s like the person cooking it has never even seen a picture of chow mein noodles. I can’t stomach it, it’s getting thrown away. I quit eating here when they changed the previous owner’s lo mein noodles to egg noodles. I thought I’d give it another chance… I’ve been tricked twice, never again 👎
EDIT: After the owner’s reply, I’d like to be perfectly clear- I ordered Chicken Chow Mein. The ingredients in the food I received were onion and chewy chicken gristle- that’s it- that’s 100% of what was in the container.
I will not stand the gaslighting.

Read moreI am sad because I have lived in Maquoketa for 18 years and have been a loyal customer to the China cafe have eaten at this establishment regularly. Since the change in ownership the food quality has gone down and is practically inedible, it didn't taste fresh and the meat tasted weird so I threw it out. I ordered chicken with broccoli with fried rice crab rangoons for myself and my other half said the same he did not enjoy the meal. This was the 2nd chance as the first time we ate there after the ownership change it was equally disappointing but it was early on since the new management so we decided to give it another try. I am bummed out because I used to really like the food and will now longer be a customer. I suggest some serious improvement on food quality. Folks pay hard earned money and right now this place is not worth the money spent. Would...
