Day: Saturday Time: 2pm
Having gone here in the 80s when it was Terry's Tavern, I definitely wanted to check it out while visiting Lake Erie attractions. I had a perch sandwich platter (w/fries and choice of slaw or cottage cheese), and my companion had a burger plater, same sides. The perch sandwich was good, but honestly, the fish didn't seem to me to have much actual taste to it. I don't know what could help that - maybe more of a season to the breading or some creative choices for condiments? My companion said his burger was cooked to order and tasted great (but he's very not-picky, so) -- but actually, what I liked best as other reviewers have commented on, was the appetizer of breaded mushrooms. They weren't the best I've ever had, but they were good -- however again, the breading could have used in my opinion, either beer and/or some cajun spices. They are flour-battered mushrooms and could really use more oomph. These 2 plates, appetizer and 2 sodas came to $42, which is kind of pricey in my opinion, but it is what it is, right now supply chain inflation and worker issues are making prices high across the board.
Service was good. We sat at the bar. There are plenty of seating options including inside, and an outdoor bar and an elevated porch-like area with great views out over Sandusky Bay. There are even benches across the street right at water's edge, so you could even get a to-go order and go sit over there if you wanted sunset up close! There was a little bit of colorful language at the bar, so if you're bothered by that, be advised. Personally, I don't mind - in fact, I rather applaud the out-there honesty of it, lol. I went for the nostalgia and while it's not old Terry's Tavern to be sure, I thought of all the times I'd gone there with my parents and was overall pleased with the experience. If you're in the area on a Lake Erie tour, I'd definitely suggest...
Read moreWent there for the first time this past weekend after being referred there by others. Went there and got told by a hostess to seat ourselves. We went and did so. We sat there about 15-20 minutes watching 4 different servers plus a bartender service other prior guests that have been there. There are signs all over the place that say please expect food to take up to an hour if they are busy. I’ve worked in the service industry for over 13 years and am a bartender and there is no excuse for that. They had about 5 tables with a combination of 4 different servers walking around and not one even came to greet us and At least let us know they will be back shortly because they’re busy (even though they weren’t). We waited and waited while making eye contact with 2 servers and nothing. Not to mention there was about 4 dirty tables that sat completely even unbussed the entire time so who even knows how long they were dirty prior to us getting there. This place was not busy at all and if that was considered busy I don’t recommend the kind of staffing for a place that’s in a location and atmosphere as such. We got up, walked all the way around to exit and past the hostess and they were sitting on their phone and didn’t even acknowledge we left. Don’t recommend this place despite the amount of...
