This place feels like stepping into living history. I pulled in early on a weekend hoping to grab a quick bite and I did. It is tiny, just a couple of tables, but the pork sandwiches were smoky sweet and the sauce had a real kick from vinegar and cayenne. I know it is famous for a reason—James Beard, hall of fame—yet it still feels like your high school buddy’s secret spot who just smokes the best meat around. It is popular so they often sell out before lunch. I waited too long another day and came back with mashed hearted regret. That said, nothing fancy but it stuck with me all day in a good way.

This is a hidden gem in Arkansas that has been serving up wholesome bbq food to the local community for over 100 years. I had the pulled pork bbq sandwich with slaw and the flavours were great. The selection is not very broad, and things tend to run out, but it’s definitely worth a stop by - not only for its important historic legacy. - Value for money? Phenomenal - Worth a detour? Yes - Best for (occasion)? Roadside, unpretentious bbq meal - Would I go back? Yes

Classic Arkansas bbq. Been around a long time. Pulled pork sandwich already made, wrapped, and put in a warmer. Bread is soggy. The employee working had us go behind the counter and do his job of getting and putting the coleslaw on the sandwich. That was a first for me. Not sure what it takes to win the James Beard Award but that probably aint it. Would not go back, even with their decades of being in business and awards.

An almost indescribable experience.

The business and BBQ recipe dates back well over a hundred years. The current owner's father opened the current storefront in 1964. It is only open for breakfast and closes down around 10:30 AM. In 2012, Jones won a James Beard America's Classic Award.

There is only 1 dish: pulled pork. It comes by the pound. You can get it as a sandwich too- they put the pork on white bread. It is really really good.

The owner was extremely nice. He showed me around the restaurant and after telling him I'm from California, he insisted I sign his guestbook. To date this is the only restaurant where I have signed a guest book.

If you ever get the opportunity to drive near Marianna, Arkansas, please do yourself a favor and go to Jones. The town needs all the help it can get and the food and history make the visit worth it. You...

I drove from Little Rock AR because a coworker recommended this restaurant to me. I was disappointed in the food. The service was great. I had 2 chopped pork shoulder sandwiches on white light bread and 2 hot link sausages. The sauce was terrible, and the meat tasted like cotton and gamey. I don't know how long the hot link sausages had sat in the oven, but they were hard outside/inside. Not edible. I threw all that food out the window. I guess you have to get there early to get quality food. I made it around lunchtime. I don't recommend it, but try it...
