Gold Star — Restaurant in Marion Township

The staff is very friendly and restaurant is clean. The food could be a little better. The price is the same as any other gold star. I ordered a tea and it tasted funny. I informed them and they were going to adjust the tea batch, but I couldn't drink it, it would have been wonderful if they would have removed it from my bill. I guess the machine they use to make tea is new, so watch that. It also would be better if they provided you with more napkins and silverware. I ordered a 5 way and they gave me a fork but no knife. They piled it up high on the plate, so that was good. But it was hard to eat without a knife. The wait staff is nice so if you ask they will get you what you need, so if you don't mind flagging them down it is a nice place to eat. You can't go wrong with chili in Ohio, you just can't. Gold Star, Skyline, doesn't matter, it's all great.

I've never had a bad meal from this location, or any other, that I can recall. The chili cheese fries are always fantastic, the coneys are a classic, and pasta is probably what heaven feels like.

What really knocked it out of the park (Reds pun? Sure, we'll go with that.) was the service. Our waitress, whom I believe was the manager, was so warm and friendly, she really made us feel like regulars. Not to mention she remembered EVERYTHING our party of four ordered, word-for-word, all without use of a pen and paper... I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning. I digress.

Where to start. When I first arrived 3 tables that still had the previous customer food on the table. Waitresses playing with their hair taking selfies. I was seated for almost 10 minutes before I was greeted. To busy playing with their hair. Watched 1 waitress go from playing with hair to serving food back to playing with hair then went to the back and carried out 2 buckets of ice. Not sure if she ever washed her hands. After my meal was finally served and eaten they found time to clean the 3 dirty tables, well kind of they got the food off of them but never wiped the tables down.
