La Delicia Fresh Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Marion

I’m from Texas but my husband’s family lives in the Southern Illinois area. I come to this area OFTEN and have tried to find Mexican food that’s like what I find in Texas. Tried large cities to mid-sized but was let down every time. Let me tell you, I’ve searched high and low, seen margs that are neon green or have sweet & low to make them “skinny margs” and nothing has hit the mark. These margs here doused with mix. They are the real deal (I got the spicy skinny, my husband got the house and yum yum!). Now, let’s talk about food….this place does it RIGHT! Refried beans are authentio, rice is perfect and the fajitas…amazing! The fajita set-up was perfect with sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, and pico de gallo. Let’s not forget their salsa. Spicy or regular is delicious! We got the stuffed jalapeños and they are decadent! Go here….worth it! This is our home town mexican restaurant, and I know I know, I'm biased because I live here. But, here's the thing, people that don't live here love this place, and there's a reason why. It doesn't matter what you order, the food is good! I can give you a list of my favorites (quesabirrea is at the top) but that would take too much time. Literally close you eyes, pick a random dish and it will be good, period. They don't just do traditional Mexican dishes, they do specials with prime rib (which I hear good things about), and even itilian dishes. Yep, you read that correctly, I said itilian meals like spaghetti and alfredo. That's what I had tonight, chicken alfredo and it was really good! I was pleasantly surprised, I mean I know they have good food, but this would not be a place I would look at for a pasta fix, but hey, they knocked it out...

We got takeout at our most recent visit, but we dine in occasionally also. They are so fast on their takeout orders, I literally have no idea how they do it. We ordered 4 meals for myself, my husband, and our two girls, and cheese dip with an extra bag of chips. She told me on the phone it would be ready in 5 minutes, and it was. No mistakes, freshly made, and delicious. Rarely if ever a complaint here. The absolute ONLY thing I could think of that could possibly improve is that when dining in, there is often a very strong chemical cleaner smell. The place is always spotless and I'm sure they clean very thoroughly, but the scent is very strong and I wonder if there wouldn't be cleaners available that do the same job without the harsh scent. Overall it's a great place to eat and we always have great food...
