I have high standards for bagel shops from growing up in Brooklyn with top quality bagels available at several places nearby. So take my review with a grain of salt. In Matawan where I live now, we have a couple of good options but I still like to try different places now and then. This place "Bagel Talk" is not nearby but it's on the way home from where I work out. So I've tried it twice in the past year. Bagel Talk is an appropriate name because they talk a good game, but fall apart from their actions. The bagels here are pretty good, as are some of their dessert options like the rainbow cookie donut. Unfortunately they get three stars from me because both times I went there, my order was written on a piece of paper then promptly lost. It seems to be quite busy in the morning. So both times I waited in line to place my order. Then stood patiently as other customers came in, ordered, then left with their food. Only after becoming annoyed that my sandwich is taking so long, would I ask the staff about it. They look around, can't find my order, then start making it after I've asked about it. No apology or discount. Just a shrug when buying a buttered bagel eats a half hour of my day. Wish I could rate them higher, but service goes hand in hand with...
Read moreThis place has got to be the most expensive Deli/bagel shop I've ever been to. To start they charge a "Fee" if you use a credit card. They have a dogn claimimg they're a cash discount bussiness but thats not true either. Ive paid cash and never received a discount. Very shady and low life practice in my opinion. The subs/breakfast sandwiches ive ordered do not meet expectations, especially when im paying a arm and a leg. The Italian subs are mediocre at best compared to other delis ive been to. I gave this place a few chances thinking maybe I just had a bad sandwich but I've been here multiple times and each time I food is disappointing. 9.95$ for a breakfast sandwich and a drink is highway robbery. 1 Egg, 1 piece of sausage and 1 slice of cheese.. There are places that give you two of each and charge less.. Also seems like the employees air their dirty laundry as every time I go here (not often) you can here them gossiping and carrying on with their own personal conversations as if you are not even there. I try to support small businesses but I'm not going to continue to spend money at a place that charges way to much for Mediocre food and service. My advise if you are going to go here, is...
Read moreThe used to have good service before but not any more. We ordered for flat bagels for breakfast over the phone. hey accepted the order and said the breakfast will be ready within 15 mins. But when I went there to pick up the breakfast they said they don't have any such order for flat bagels and they said they don't have any flat bagels left to make. They could have said that they couldn't accept the order over the phone but they didn't. They wasted my time and I had to go to their shop all the way to pick up breakfast. The young college student fellow who takes the order probably messed up. For the second time I had this experience with them. Last time I ordered for lunch but when I reached there they didn't make anything. I am not going back again and ask other friends not to go there. If the owner is looking at this message then my message to him/her that very soon your service will be disliked by many people. So try to rectify it! Very bad...
