Ay Caramba — Restaurant in Marshalltown

Decided to check this place out for the first time. They were advertising these agua frescas at one point, and they looked good in the picture. I ordered a watermelon 🍉 drink. Also added some nachos and other stuff for my partner. The agua frescas were terrible. They tasted so artificial, and it had milk and strawberry flavoring, and I ordered 2. Horrible drinks, especially for being a Hispanic spot with "agua frescas." Then my partners beef nachos he said were good because the ingredients looked fresh, but the meat looked like they cut a piece of steak into 3 very large pieces, bad choices of meat sizing for some nachos ladies. The meat has looked different the three times my partner got his nachos, and once he got pork instead of beef, which wasn't what he had asked. Consistency isn't there. Other than that, portions of the food are good, though, for the pricing.

Update: I took my partner to get him nachos, which I mentioned he liked. He did also want to try the mangoneada. First, it's pretty dumb that the lady's act like they don't speak Spanish, which I've clearly heard them speak it. Then she couldn't hear me, so I had to kind of raise my voice 3 times she didn't understand me. Come home, and the bag was full of sour cream and cheese all bad. The mangoneada was watery and tasted disgusting, which is not a mangoneada. THE MAIN ISSUE WAS HE FOUND A HAIR IN HIS FOOD !!!You guys are horrible with the food, never going back. You lost the stars...

OK, I've wanted to try this place for a long time but hadn't because I've heard mixed reviews. And now I can see why they're so mixed. So, overall, the food is decent. It's edible, it tastes mostly ok. BUT, as another review mentioned, the steak is extremely skimpy in the burritos. Which is fine with me, because once I finally did get a bite of steak, (probably about 7 bites in) it tasted a bit smokey, but only a little. Smokey can be good, but I'm not the biggest fan of smoked meats. Toward the end of the burrito, I got a bigger piece of steak and ate it by itself, and it was WAY too smokey. It tasted like a piece of burnt wood from a bonfire. Not a big deal, I just won't order the steak again. But we also got a side of chips and guacamole. The chips were insanely crunchy, like difficult to eat crunchy, and the guacamole just tasted mostly like garlic. Definitely needed some salt on the chips AND in the guacamole itself. My daughter got a cheese quesadilla and they didn't give us the juice it was supposed to come with, and the quesadilla itself was huge width wise, but so skinny you could barely tell there was...

I was the first person at the walk up window. I was told I could only order 1 burrito. The guy behind me was allowed to order 2. She said it is because he is there everyday. I've been a regular customer since this location opened coming several times each week. She asked me what I wanted to order but I didn't receive what I ordered although the sticker on yhe burrito was what I had ordered. I ordered a no. 3. What I received was a potato egg and some Pico. I also had to ask for my change because she wasn't going to give it to me. I waited 25 minutes for my order. I saw people receiving large orders. Someone posted on Facebook that her husband received more than one. Guess you don't want my business. Obviously don't appreciate it. I have always given glowing reviews. Sad you felt the need to treat me in such a manner. I'm not sure I'll be back. I support businesses that...
