Executive Inn Motel — Hotel in Marshalltown

I was skeptical at first. I was on my way to super 8 where they wanted $69. And just noticed the motel. It looked nice from the outside so it was worth checking out. When I walked in I could smell the curry. But after speaking with the owner was was very nice and confident I went ahead and got 1 night since the price was low. Btw my room did not smell like curry. For the money it was way more then I expected. The room was clean, had Flat screen TV, fridge, microwave, WiFi, even had a iron and ironing board. All of this was under $50. The room was nice size they offered to make my bed when asking if I needed maid service. A lot of places won't touch your bed until you leave. I plugged my laptop into the tv and had my Pandora and netflix working. If I ever come back this is where I will stay. As far as the other reviews the people who own this place don't seem like that kind of people who would stick u in a room described. Maybe before, & I can't speak for anyother rooms, but I stayed in room 101. Now this wasn't by any means a five star hotel. I didn't expect it to be. It was a motel and the owner was very concerned about my comfort and stay. I ended up staying the whole week....

No longer a Best Western (I'm sure it was dropped as it no longer met BW standards). This is a dive, full of hard working Mexican immigrants/illegals who come up during the summer to detassle the corn, etc. Unfortunately, they like to drink lots of beer, party all night playing the same damn song, and sit outside their rooms watching you come and go. 1 light bulb worked in each room, chairs were broken, remotes didn't work, few telephones worked for several of us (so you can't call 911), and the staff are ridiculous and could care less about your room or your stay. For those of us who had a working phone, the front desk refused to answer the phone despite trying numerous times. They charge way too much for a dive like that. I think it was $70 for my king bed room, and $100 for my sister's king bed room that had a nasty jacuzzi in it that didn't even have running water hooked up. I felt like the bed and bedding were simply the nastiest, most rotten dirty bedding I've ever seen. I don't see how they are allowed...

What did I like about it? Probably the only thing was the price but I guess you get what you pay for. I have to say though, I really did like the receptionists, they were helpful. But the room was awful. First thing we see when we get there is a random glove in the drawer by the TV and then Taco Bell TRASH in the drawer by the bed. Then, pulling back the sheets to one of the beds, there was a brown nasty stain on them. Seriously?! AND We only got one thing of shampoo for a room for 3 adults. The lock on the door was very "ghetto" haha. Its a good place to stay if you want to fear for your life and don't like...
