Great Meal - but unwanted guest....

Have always been a fan of this restaurant, even back when it was called Ember. Recently took some friends there, as its just a different atmosphere than other South Shore restaurants. As usual, cool atmosphere, nice staff, and great food - but...About halfway through our meal, one of my friends felt something "furry" brush up on his leg - obviously quite the fright, when we looked under the table - it was a cat!. Yes, a live cat in the restaurant. After us, it sauntered over to the next table where a woman had to get up mid-meal from her table and waited for cat to keep walking (cat allergy). When the server was asked about this, she seemed embarrassed and just said its the owners cat - with that "not much I can do about it" look. Yes, its a cat - not a wild animal, but this is a high-end restaurant with high-end prices. Having any non-service type animal walking throughout the floor unattended, while trying to enjoy a fine meal just seems unacceptable. What about people that have allergies, or just don't like cats - or any animal rubbing legs when they are dining out? Again, E2 is not some dive bar, where's its "cute" to have some sort of mascot....

I’ve driven by this place many times seen the “ember” sign and the building and always wanted to try it but forgot. This time I went and was very underwhelmed. I’ll preface this by saying the food was very good. I want to give it four stars but the overall restaurant is in rough shape. It’s like they want to be a high end place but cut every corner possible and then let some stuff rot away. Entering the building the pillars are rotting. Then the entrance has what I would call “Burger King” tiles. The carpet ruins the appeal of the business. Hardwood would really up the ambiance. All the trim work is poorly painted and the calk is peeling. All of what I’m saying doesn’t have to do with the food. It’s just the difference between being a luxury spot vs another restaurant. I don’t know what was there before but the owner went 80% of the way. It wants to be great but fell short. It’s a shame because the food really was great. Wine list could be a little more extensive. Alba has a great wine list.... E2 has the bones to be a 4-5 star restaurant but feel short with...

At Ember the atmosphere, food, cocktails and service all come together to make for a truly unique dining experience. I've been here a few times now, I live about 45 min away and it is well worth the drive! The atmosphere is unique, very upscale and intimate, definitely draws you in. I normally get the scallop dish which is excellent (and fairly priced.) We always get an appetizer, wine or cocktails, and desert. Everything I've had was delicious. I read some reviews saying this place is overpriced but I would have to disagree, the quality is there and it's really not even that expensive. Ember remains my favorite restaurant, I...

Where do I start!? I am visiting my dad from upstate New York and we make it a point to come every time to enjoy the amazing food and atmosphere. Our waiter, Eric was exceptional and was attentive. The Chef, George did not disappoint! Best scallops I've ever had! Pan seared monk fish with risotto was absolutely divine. My boyfriend the carnivore, enjoyed the succulent and savory tasting ribs that fell right off the bone. Thank you yet again for the amazing meal and great service. We shall be back soon!
