Olympia Cafe — Restaurant in Martin's Additions

Went to purchase lunch. When my food was ready I decided to sit but noticed all the tables were dirty. At that time the owner/manager asked was I going to sit and handed me a rag to clean the table. I asked did he expect me to clean the table. He then asked for me a second time to clean the table and thats was when I Said I watch the staff person come to clean the table for 2 white men before they sat down but you are not offering me the same service. He then told me he was not going to clean the table and smiled. I then left feeling cleanly the owner/ manager was a racist person. This local low-key eatery is a treasure. All kinds of people come, from suits to moms with kids to oldsters to workmen - for the good, reasonable meals, great coffee and friendly service. Every neighborhood should have such a cafe! Extensive menu on the chalkboard above the open kitchen. Quick snacks, pastries & bananas by the register. I love this place for its older, casual atmosphere - it feels like a remnant of a by-gone era in a time of slick corporate fast food. Food was bland and boring. Kids pancakes tasted like a sponge. They didn’t have any proper plates or utensils. Instead it was the cheapest thinnest paper plates and plastics utensils. Had to ask for ketchup and sugar to help with the taste. Coffee was awful. Lady rang our card without letting us know the total check, so have no idea how much we paid.
