I have ordered breakfast through door dash several times now. I've tried their veggie omelet, pancakes, two egg breakfast with gravy and biscuits, and French toast. I will say one issue I have is with consistency. The food tastes completely different every time I order. My roommate has also gotten completely different bread and no cheese on the breakfast sandwich different times she ordered. Their breakfast is just okay at best now. It could use more seasoning and flavors all around, like everywhere else in martin. I have ordered my scrambled eggs with cheese twice and both times gotten a grey colored center. It isn't like that with the regular scrambled eggs. I don't know if its a temp issue when the cheese is melted on or what, but I've never seen eggs do that. The veggie omlette had watery vegetables that taste like they had been cut and sitting days before. Since both times were bad I haven't ordered that again. The regular pancakes taste overcooked and rubbery. The pecan pancake was softer though and was better. Perhaps it is a difference in who is cooking. The first time I ordered, it was delicious so I have ordered many times after to get that same flavor, as we dont have many breakfast spots here that arent fast food. However, after that first time, I've had good and bad experiences, with the bad slowly taking over. Each time my order is packaged with care, so I'm leaving this review in hopes these issues will be fixed. They include several condiments and plastic ware each time, and the food is neatly packaged. It seems to me like the people running this place do care about their product, but may not be aware of these issues. I have only ordered door dash and never eaten there, so maybe it is better when you eat in. But I would imagine the consistency issues have to be the same if I can taste the difference...
Read moreThe Hearth has been a staple restaurant in Martin for years. I worked there as a teenager and have always loved the food. I recently visited my parents and asked my mother if she would like to go eat breakfast there while I was in town. This was a mistake. It doesn't look like a dollar has been put into this place in 30 years. Old beat up chairs booths and tables. (Pretty sure they are the same tables I biased 25 years ago) The food that was horrible.tibsaybthe least. I had a country ham omelette that had the biggest chunks of fatty ham in it. The gravy was thick and lumpy and the biscuits were dried out too. We watched as a waitress brought out burnt toast to the table next to us, the gentleman banged it on his plate and it sounded like a brick. When the waitress noticed this she said if it's just so and so in the back. He noticed it and is making you new. If he noticed it why send it out? After this trip and this experience I seriously doud anyone in my family will be going back. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because our waitress...
Read moreIt's like stepping back into a comfy meat-n-three restaurant in the '70's! Everyone seems to know everyone else. The servers are very friendly and helpful, and everybody is "honey", "sweety" or "babe"! The tables are a little close to each other in the main dining room, but if you want privacy there is an add-on room that usually has plenty of empty tables. But why would you want to miss the latest gossip at the next table?!
The salad bar is always astounding, and includes choices not found these days in other restaurants (boiled eggs, cheese, cubed ham, cottage cheese, anything that has to be cooled to a certain temperature).
The food bar at the end of the salad bar changes daily, but always has the great southern offerings like fried chicken, ham, meat loaf, chicken (or turkey) and dressing, cooked veggies and delicious desserts!
The iced tea is perfect!
The place has been around for many decades (it was booming back in 1971 while I was going to UTM), and looks like it's going to be here for many more. My wife and I will drive 45 minutes...
