It was a dark and gloomy day with no hope in sight. But after a long work day, I was excited that I was going to have a fulfilling steak dinner with my husband and friends. We arrived at the restaurant for our 6:30 pm reservation, ready to have our hunger satisfied. The two servers (one was in training) greeted us and promptly took our drink orders, then we ordered our meals: Brisket with risotto, brisket with fries, 10 oz sirloin (medium) with stir fry, 5 oz filet mignon (medium) with stir fry.
30 minutes have elapsed. We questioned what is taking so long. Did they treat us differently because we did not order alcohol? Did they have to slaughter the cow for the steak or handpick the mushrooms for the risotto? The mystery lingered... 2 Diet cokes later and we still pondered.
1 hour has now elapsed... We are no longer hungry, but rather hangry. What takes so long for the Steak Night specialty items??? Seriously, we could go to the store, buy a steak, cook it, and eat it all before our food would have come out.
1 HOUR AND 5 MINUTES LATER, a server brings us our food... I wish you could have seen the sheer disappointment on everyone's faces. My steak was worse than the news I received from my doctor today. My husband's brisket was drier than the Sahara desert. Actually, you could not even distinguish his food as brisket... it looked more like beef jerky. Our friend's brisket looked somewhat identifiable and even had some fat on it. The biggest mystery we wondered about is how can two orders of brisket be so different. Brisket is pretty simple and, while you can mess it up, you sure did your best at making it the worst brisket in Maryland. Kudos for that cook-off award hand-clap
30 MINUTES LATER, after what seemed like a never-ending wait, we received a check for the food. We threw down the cash and left the restaurant feeling disappointed and still hungry.
The day started dark and gloomy, and the day ended dark, gloomy, and unsatisfying.
Seriously, your reviews do not match our experience. We will not be visiting this establishment again, and we wished we had selected a different restaurant for dinner...
P.s. if there was a negative star option, I would...
Read moreI'll start off by saying if you decide to eat here, don't just come for the food. This is a very unique restaurant with a one of a kind atmosphere.
The restaurant is located in the hotel building and is right down the stairs that are directly in front of you when you walk through the main doors.
When you initially walk into the building, you are greeted by marbled red and ivory stone tiled floor. When you approach the stairs in front of you, you'll see the dining area resting below you with grand windows overlooking the golf course.
The stairs spiral down to the lower level of the building where you will see more of the marble tiles but this time you'll see unique dark green marbled tiles as well. Walk to your left of the hallway and you will see the hostess stand.
As you walk past the stand and out of the hallway, look up and you will feel the room expand up into a grand vaulted space expressing the full luxurious experience of the restaurant.
When you sit down to eat, enjoy the view of the building: the huge modern lanterns above you; the elegant brass elevators that appear to float up to the clouds; the view of the golf course. Take it all in. It's almost fantasy-like.
As for the the food, I had the smoked brisket sandwich with fries.
The fries were cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. Not too much salt, and a nice flavour of spice.
The ciabatta bread was fresh. Not stale or dense. Easy to bite through.
The brisket was cooked fully but was tender and melted in the mouth.
Everything was full of flavour and I enjoyed it tremendously. I absolutely loved my lunch here at Alexandra's.
I'd like to thank Melissa for her excellent service and her friendly personality. If you eat here and Melissa is your server, you're gonna have a great dining experience.
This is by far the most unique restaurant I have ever been to for its stunning architecture, atmosphere, and location . The food was delicious and I will definitely return again soon,...
Read moreI wanted to treat my wife to a nice dinner for her birthday and chose to go to Alexandra’s from the many other choices that we have nearby. We arrived for an early dinner at 5:30, were seated and greeted by our server about a minute later. We ordered drinks and appetizers, cream of crab soup and shrimp cocktail. The soup was very good and had the perfect amount of crab meat. Portion size was good as well. The shrimp cocktail was nothing special. It contained only 4 pieces of shrimp and could have been presented better. Perhaps a bit of crushed ice in the glass to sit the cocktail sauce on. Also I think that it should have had 5 pieces of shrimp instead of 4. My wife ordered the Spicy Honey Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry and I ordered the 16oz ribeye . Both arrived in a reasonable amount of time and were presented nicely on the plates. My wife enjoyed her shrimp but found the red chili a bit too strong. Luckily the chili was presented on the side of the plate which allowed her to only use a small bit of it to spice her shrimp up a little. Overall she said that her meal was very good and had the perfect portion of shrimp to rice. As for my ribeye, it looked nice, tender and juicy. Well I was disappointed as soon as I tried to cut into it. It was cooked to medium rare as I requested but was on the tough side. It appeared to be a choice cut of beef but for the price that I paid, $42, I would expect a prime cut instead. It wasn’t seasoned in any way but was eatable after applying a bit of salt and pepper. I ate it but it wasn’t very happy with it. For desert we chose the Peach Cardamom Crisp which was extremely good with fresh peach slices and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Overall the dining experience was good but not exceptional for the price that I paid. Cocktails, appetizers, entrees and desert ran about $125, which was a bit high for the quality which I will only rate our dining experience at no more...
