Response: You're welcome. Your prompt response was greatly appreciated. We've recommended your place of business to several of your repeat customers, because overall, your food and service is good. Though, no company has ever remained successful by modeling complete rectitude, we never had a major complaint worth bringing to your attention. This is why we always returned. But when reading my review, it stated that my key complaint was that every crab accept the 2 largest crabs were hollow. They didn't have much meat at all. This was my main issue, opposed to the size. And although you offered a practical suggestion, I am not a customer that would ever take the time to use the imperial system of measurement to measure the size a crab. But thanks for that suggestion. In the past, we may have come across a few hollow crabs out of the two dozen that we would normally purchase. For us, that's not uncommon. What was disappointing this time around, was only being able to enjoy 2 crabs out of the 7 crabs that I had personally purchased for myself... Hope this helped clear any miscommunication. I'm sure we'll be back to try again.
We've been coming here for years, even when we lived over an hour away in PA. Most times, their food doesn't disappoint. A few times, I felt like the fried fish and crab cakes are too soft; meaning they weren't fried long enough. We never had much to complain about when it came to other menu items, especially their blue crabs - except for yesterday's purchase, 15 minutes before they closed. I purchased 1/2 a dozen of Jumbo Blue Crabs and felt like I only received 2 Jumbos and the rest Extra Larges. Because the size of Extra Larges stop at 6 1/2" and Jumbos start at 6 1/2", that doesn't leave much room to complain, right? However, my key complaint is that every crab accept the 2 largest crabs were hollow. Because I received 7 crabs instead of the 6 that I purchased, leads me to believe BnB was trying to compensate me because they were: 1. Aware of how hollow those crabs were, and 2. Aware that they were primarily left with Extra Large Crabs being their largest crabs available at the time of purchase, opposed to the Jumbos that they said were available. When I called an hour prior to placing my order to inquire, the young lady answered and told me that Extra Larges where the largest size available. When I called the second time to actually place the order, the guy answered and told me that Jumbos were available. I asked again to be certain, and he responded the same. Reading replies from previous reviews, prompted me to leave this review. One shouldn't speak about dishonest customers, if their establishment isn't completely honest themselves. Being compensated unknowingly with 7 crabs, opposed to the 6 crabs means nothing, when I am expecting to receive what I paid for. Quality over quantity is what I prefer... Of course, we will return to BnB. However, if this happens again, I can't promise that we will be back. We are particular and honest people. I would have rather an honest, accurate answer, that provided me the option of making the decision to move forward with purchasing the crabs; or just simply enjoying the fried shrimp platter that was...
Read moreI too just live up the street and recently learned of BNB from a friend. Lived in Southern Maryland and have family and friends in the seafood industry and very familiar with Maryland Blue Crabs. On several occasions I purchased Blue Crabs normally I buy their special 3 dozen small males for $69. Very reasonable. My last two purchases I was unhappy with the quality. I took them back and spoke with the owner explaining the Crabs were under cooked and mushy. I didn't expect the response I received. He told me, "they seemed okay To Him?" I was offended considering I purchased the Crabs for my consumption not his. His resolve was to add extra Crabs and give them back to me. I didn't want to be disrespectful and cause a scene so I took the Crabs and once I got home I threw them away. I've read other reviews where customers have complained about the Crabs being mushy as well and were disappointed.
I love this place primarily because the quality of seafood is fresh, the prices in caparison to industry standards are reasonable, and they have exceptional customer service. I make it a habit of tipping every time.
Again having personal knowledge the reason the Crabs are mushy is because they use too much water when steaming them. A very easy remedy to their problem.
I never want to see a small business suffer and loose customers. Will I go back to BNB? Yes I will and so should you. Good luck, stay safe and...
Read moreBeing Mindful First, No I do not believe that customers are always right. We are human and we all make mistakes but, to not offer an apology is poor customer service. I purchased 3lbs of Alaskan crab claws frozen, devil eggs with shrimp, fish sandwich no tartar, a dozen of Jumbo crabs cooked, I requested the Po boys (3) shrimp, a crab cake broiled and a roll of paper. I arrived home with a fried fish sandwich with tartar on it and the wrong shrimp. I phoned back to JUST make them aware of the order issue with the fish and shrimp. I did not want a new sandwich nor money back, Instead of an apology I was just asking the person to be mindful and she missed the whole point. I saw the conversation was going badly as she talked about some button she hit or did not hit, so I said “ok” and hung up angry. I spent over $200 and that’s the thanks you get. Guess I will have to find a new place to purchase crabs which I have never had a problem with them before. UGH I received an email from BNB they acknowledged my initial complaint and I felt valued as a customer which increased my star from 2 to 4, and I will be a returning customer. ...
