They close at 12. I arrived at 11:45 after a very late work night. After I ordered and paid, another car pulled in and ordered. As soon as that order hit their screens, the woman working inside yelled to the man at the window âwe close in 15 minutes!!â I can clearly hear her as the window is open Iâm being handed my drink. She keeps ranting on and asks if there are any more cars. Once he answers, she then tells him to tell whoever pulls up next âweâre not taking no more orders, weâre closed!!â
Now, I would never show up to a sit down restaurant 15 minutes before they close, because the experience is expected to take longer than that. But for a drink, fries and a sandwich at a fast food restaurant, it shouldnât take 15 minutes, more like 5.
As sheâs making my food Iâm watching her continue to storm around, clearly ticked off. Sheâs slamming things around, tossing the the fry scoop (which she didnât even use bc Iâm assuming it had already been cleaned in her pre-close efforts) and shouted again in frustration when a third car pulled up, still 8 minutes to close, and right before she comes to the window.
She then hands my bag out with a sour face, doesnât make eye contact but can see me, and doesnât say a word. Normally I would say thank you when Iâm handed something, even when I donât expect to get a âyour welcomeâ back, which is so often the case at fast food places these days. But apparently my face betrayed my disappointment because she looked at me expectantly then and raise her eyebrows.
I pettily apologized for bothering them and wished her a good evening. She got defensive and said âwhat, I didnât say nothing, I yelled because I just burned my hand thatâs why I shoutedâ and I said back âno, Iâm talking about before the yell a few seconds ago when the 3rd car pulled inâŚ.We can hear you out here yelling about it being ridiculous that weâve come 15 minutes before close. So, again, Iâm sorry I bothered you all, and I hope you have a good night.â
Now all of this was said by me with disappointment and was clearly not sincere, but I felt so unwelcome and felt like she should know. She did shout out the window after me as I pulled away to have a good night, just as aggressively as I would have expected, and also not sincere (understandably lol).
Look, I get it, itâs late and you want to go home. But everything online and on your signs says youâre open until 12. If you donât want to work that late, donât. Go work at a fast food place that closes at 10. There are plenty that would happily have you work in their kitchen. But donât make your guests feel bad for coming within your open hours.
Anyway, I guess my point is, if you find yourself hungry late at night, youâre not welcome there after theyâve started pre-close. Iâd assume thatâs no later than 11:30p but probably closer to 11. Assume the food wonât be fresh and the service wonât be with a smile.
As far as the food, it was clearly made and sitting in warmers for a long time. It was dry and hard. The fries were underdone. The soda was good.
On the upside, the man at the window was polite and while didnât look happy, he wasnât hostile either. Thank goodness for...
Read morePlease do. not. go. here. MARCH 7th, 2019 I pulled up around 7pm, ordered my daughters ice cream, got to the window. It wasnât busy. Anyone whoâs been here before knows you canât understand a thing they say on the speaker. Besides that, I hand the girl my card she swipes it and then proceeeds to walk around with my card in her hand. She goes out of sight a few times, sheâs talking to someone in the back and I canât hear a thing sheâs saying because the window is closed. Then she walks over to another receipt printer across from her register and flips my card around to the back, says something else to this person sheâs talking to in the back and then opens the window after about 3-4 mins and said âI was just trying to get you a right receipt this one has the ink off if it a little bitâ. Immediately I feel weird. Side note: I never got that âright receiptâ. Finally they hand me the ice cream cone and it looks like someone smashed it into the ground before giving it to me so I ask for a cup to sit it in. Whatever. So I drove off and the next morning I check my bank account to see if there was anything weird. I just had a gut feeling this lady took my numbers down. Sure enough, a charge for almost $66 and another for about $26 for a clothing site called ROMWE. I most certainly DID NOT buy these clothes as I am 38 weeks pregnant, about to take a maternity leave and cannot fit in anything but maternity anyways. I am convinced this young lady communicated with someone in the back and gave them my numbers as she tried to look like she was âgetting me a right receiptâ for my $1.58 ice cream. I have called my bank and made a claim. It needs to be investigated obviously. I just wanted people to know to be cautious. If they donât give you your card back right away....
Read moreI went there the other night and got what I call a screw you meal. I ordered the six dollar deal and when I got to the window to pay, I just jokingly asked why everything on the dollar menu starts at a dollar sixty nine. I ordered the chicken sandwich and the fish sandwich. I was asked if I wanted two fish sandwiches because the chicken would take a few minutes, I said no thank you I'll wait for the chicken. I was asked to wait in the parking lot and that they would bring my order to my truck. I pulled down to the parking lot where I could see the order station. I sat there for a few moments and drove back thru the drive -thru and told the lady that I would sit where I could see her and to just motion me and that I would come to the window because it was cold and very windy and that I didn't want to cause anyone to come out in that. I was told to just wait there because my order was just about ready. I received my order, thanked the lady and left. On the way to my son's house reached in the bag and grabbed a sandwich it was chicken. I've eaten spicy chicken sandwiches from CHECKERS before and never tasted anything like this. In retrospect I shouldn't have eaten the sandwich. I should have taken ot to the police to be examined!, but I was starving. It was after 11:30 at night and I hadn't eaten anything that day. When I got to my son's house I opened the fish sandwich and it was extremely over cooked and dried out. The only reason I can think of for this treatment is that they took extreme offense at my joking about their dollar menu starting at a dollar sixty nine. I strongly advise against going to the CHECKERS at Belle Grove and B and A...
