My boyfriend and I came here on a rainy weeknight craving some California Burritos (we just visited LA a few months ago and were dying for some Carne Asada). We had read some reviews about how great the California Burritos were and to order the "special chili oil." So we did just that, with special warning about the chili oil and how it has landed people in the hospital before! The burritos were huge and you could pay extra to get them smothered in cheese, and we were cautious with the chili oil at first but then realized our California-tinged palates were used to much hotter and we basically dunked our burritos in it. The burrito themselves didn't really compare to our other worldy experience at Rambo's Food Truck in Highland Park, but they were fine in and of themselves! They had both chicken and steak, rice and beans, and french fries which my boyfriend was surprised to find haha. Unfortunately it was a little light on the meat even though it had two kinds in it, and next time we go we'll probably order the regular burrito with hopefully a lot of just one type of meat. There was also a nice little nacho-type appetizer with this delicious bean dip and 2 kinds of salsa, the green was spicier than the chili oil! And I ordered a patron Margarita which had a spicy salt rim I thought was a nice touch, but it tasted kind of watered down. Still, I'd come back another time to try out other things on the menu!

On our first visit today to El Mexireño Restaurante, my wife and I ordered the Enchiladas Mixtas and the California Burrito. As vegetarians, we were pleased to find veggie entrees with no-meat rice and black beans on the side. Our selections were DELICIOSOS! The food quality was exceeded only by the food quantity. The portions were enormous, so we were able to take home a snack for later. We were amazed by the low prices for so much high-quality food, so we made sure to tip the staff accordingly. Our host, Jesus, proved extremely friendly and accommodating. He welcomed us in English, but we appreciated the opportunity to practice our Spanish. Jesus invited us back to listen to the live Latin music on Friday and Saturday nights. Our rating will change from a 4 to a 5 after the interior has been decorated a bit more. We definitely plan to return to El Mexireño Restaurante.

So my daughter was craving birria tacos and in normal teenage energy she came across this spot on Google. Rounded up my family of four and pulled up. Baabbyyy… they did NOT disappoint. Birria tacos? Hit! Whole fried fish? Hit! California Burrito? Hit! If you’re a margarita person like me… you have to come get one from here. My hubby and I had two each and were feeling happily toasty. Oh… and for the non drinkers and kiddos… the fruit flavored lemonades were full of flavor. My kids had the mango and pineapple. Of course we ended the meal with dessert. Loovvveeeddd the tres leches. The flan, not so much. But the staff was super amazing and let us switch to the churros which were chef’s kiss! In all, we will be back. Great food & dranks. Vibey music. Come join us!

1 star is far too high of a rating. "Hated it" is way too kind. The experience was HORRENDOUS.

When I entered the place was dark and, after sitting, noticed it smelled as if Raid had been sprayed in the premises. There was nothing special about the decor.

There were four workers, including thr manager standing around the counter. One worker was sweeping the floor and the pile of dirt was in the middle of the floor. She made no attempt to remove the dirt...it stayed there for about 3 minutes.

The manager was leaning on the counter in conversation with someone who had an issue with an order involving Uber.

The other two workers were simply milling around. No one spoke, smiled...nothing done to make me feel as though my business was wanted.

Finally, one worker ushered me to a table. The interesting thing was NONE of the workers, except the manager, spoke English. In retrospect, it was a Mexican restaurant, and I do speak a little bit of Spanish, but still, not all of their patrons are Spanish speaking.

At any rate, I took my seat and ordered my food, along with a side of guacamole. Food comes out...the only thing that was hot was the plate. The rice was cold, the refried beans were lukewarm, and the enchiladas were warm. The side of guacamole was liquid...literally L.I.Q.U.I.D.

I took the item to the register...again, no one smiled or spoke, but asked the person who brought my food where was my side of guac. She said that the liquid I was holding in my hand WAS my guac. She then took the item from my hand, stuck her finger in it to taste it, affirmed it was guac...and handed it back to me.

Ok. I was D.O.N.E. For a brief moment, I started to walk out without paying, but, for some reason, I paid for the food. It was $10. I could ha e walked across the parking lot to McDonald's and received a better, HOT meal, and customer service.

My advice...visit the McDonald's or Subway...you'll get a lot more bang for your buck, won't have to stand around looking at dirt, and more than likely, actually enjoy...

I would not even give this place a one star, but its the only way i could get the review posted, so all can know what a rip off this place is. The guy who owns the place likes to change up your order. I ordered a side of grilled shrimp, along with everyone's orders from my work crew of hen soup. I say I want a SIDE order of grilled shrimp, the jumbo ones. He says ok then asks something, i didnt understand, so i say i just want the good ones. I got some wierd sauced shrimp dinner, expensive, but nasty, and it even smelled rotten. Now most places when they mess up, they either fix it for free, or take the messed up portion off the order, right? Well not here. The response you get here for his mistake, is that it's already made he can not refund it, no fixing of his mistake what so ever. Just a response of he will make it right next time while charging you for his mistakes. I'm not even sure if he isn't doing this on purpose, because the time before when we came here, he did the same thing before 5 months ago. It makes you wonder how many people he does this to to make extra money.... I told him I would put my review up, he had nothing to say, im not someone who usually complains, but he's wrong. And we will never come there again. The hen soup, the hens where dried out badly as well. Definitely was not worth our 90.00 dollars...
