I moved here from New Mexico where we are known for our hatch green Chile, red Chile, enchiladas and sopapillas. This was my first visiting Mi Casita and we were presently surprised at the menu selections. There are so many options to choose, from tacos, tostadas, Chile Releno and even fried ice cream. The autmostphere made us feel like we were eating at a local restaurant at home. The service was good as well, we were greeted and seated right away, and the staff seemed to get the tables turned around. I got the beef fajitas tacos and it comes with a pretty large portion of beans and rice and it was delicious. The rice was pretty bland, but it’s hard not to compare it to to my own families Spanish rice recipe. The fried ice cream was tasty, but I wish that it had more of the corn flake coating on it, so it tasted more like a fried ice cream ball. We were happy that it came in the cinnamon sugar shell. We were surprised that the menu was expensive for a Spanish food restaurant. I think we just may be used to the pricing back home, where fajitas, beans and rice are about $10 a plate and not $17 plates. We spent over $70 and got two soft drinks, one appetizer, two entrees and one shared dessert. I guess we were thinking dinner would be around $40-$50. Regardless, we will be back to try...
Read moreThere comes a time in the sojourns of every SoCal transplant that they stop and realize this sad fact: all those SoCal discussions about “getting some food?” They were really talking about authentic Mexican food. And shortly thereafter their lives become a dreadful quixotic quest, a Lucy-holding-the-football-for-Charlie-Brown existence of hearing about a “real authentic Mexican restaurant” in the Baltimore/DC area from otherwise credible people in their circle, and eating a disappointing and mediocre meal there. My experience at Mi Casita this evening was almost unbelievable after all these years—but I’ve for sure found my go-to place. We had a sampling of things on the menu, and each of them were just wonderful. The service was prompt, attentive, and thorough, and the atmosphere was legit. We didn’t try the desserts—there just wasn’t any room. I don’t usually write reviews, so I’m sure this could be more informative, but I’ll leave it like this: if you’re jonesing for some authentic Mexican food, give Mi Casita a try and then...
Read moreAvoid this place, service was not very good. I ordered pork fajitas (bad choice) they were 98% sautéed green peppers and onion, almost NO pork.!! I ordered a dish to take home to my wife when I ordered dinner and the waiter forgot to place the order. When I asked for the check he delivered it, then I asked where the take home dish was and he gave me a strange look then picked the check I had signed back up. After a pretty long wait the waiter returned with the check again (that I signed) and gave me an additional check, so now I had two checks, one that I signed and an additional one and no take home food.???? The waiter disappeared and after about 10 more minutes he returned with the take home dish I ordered when I place my initial order.???? Didn’t see a manager there that was running the show, and no one ever bothered to check on us once they dropped our food. Lousy restaurant and bad experience, there are much better Mexican restaurants in Crofton stay away from...
