New Cafe China — Restaurant in Maryland

Waldorf is certainly not the hub of terrific restaurants... but we wanted some Chinese food, real bad. The reviews on Yelp weren't horrible and this place isn't too far from home so we figured we'd give it a shot. A humble location... only a few booths, no tv, no booze, not sure there was a bathroom... obviously geared more toward pick up, not a big deal. The lady would took our order was polite and read back our order for accuracy. Price was decent. Wait time was approximately 20 minutes. The food was about what you would expect: house lo mein, pretty good, not too greasy. Steamed pork dumplings, probably the worst I've ever had as the wrapper all fell off... maybe they were overcooked? Egg rolls, yummy. Moo Shu pork: did not include pancakes, rather spring roll wrappers that harden almost immediately after unwrapping (I've been seeing this more often) and was more veggies than meat. Kung pao chicken was pretty good. Only one small white rice for 2 people. All in all I can't say I was dissatisfied however this wasn't the best.

While we sat and waited for our food on a bench that was about to fall apart another woman came in and asked the lady at the counter for silverware and napkins. Really wanted some really good Chinese food which is quite hard to find in this area. Unsanitary conditions and meats of mysterious textures have left me traumatized. After reading reviews, I decided to give New Cafe a try. I’m pleasantly surprised and so glad I did. I ordered chicken and broccoli and fried rice with wings, along with two steak and cheese eggrolls. Steak and cheese eggrolls were cooked perfectly and full of steak and onion! None of that gristle-y stuff. Wings were a nice size, seasoned well and fried hard. Chicken and broccoli- very flavorful sauce with tender slices of chicken. Oh, and let me not forget the half/half to wash it all down, so refreshing and fresh tasting! Not cloudy or too light in color, just right! Went in about 40 minutes before closing time, food was hot and fresh, cashier polite. When we were out the store, she actually came dashing out to give us a sauce she forgot to include with the wings, I thoroughly appreciated this level of customer service, she was very sweet. I feel like I have to give this place some love. This was the second time coming here and had no issues. This last visit I got take out for lunch. I got the sweet and sour chicken lunch special with the wonton soup. First, the wonton soup... amazing. The broth is flavorful, I have had other take out wonton soups and they tasted like dirty dish water. This one is like it was made with love. The wontons are also big and tasty.

For the sweet and sour chicken, it actually has chicken and not just batter. The sweet and sour sauce is really good too. Tastes of chili sauce and less just sugar syrup, which I liked. I also purchased an egg roll. Probably the best egg roll I have had around here. It was perfectly cooked, not soggy. The filling was also very good.

The crab Rangoon actually has crab in it (don't ask me if it was real or not, idk). It's not super crabby so I liked that.
