First time here and it was a great experience. We certainly will be coming back.

Don't be deceived by its humble strip mall exterior. Inside is a beautifully appointed restaurant and sushi bar. You're first greeted by a charming young lady and taken to your seat. Then a very enthusiastic waiter will take your order and is happy to help you make choices. Get here early because the place gets busy at the dinner rush. They also offer takeout if you prefer.

Drink menu is pretty sparse, but definitely have good choices. We split a 25 oz Kirin can and a warm sake.

Food choices are a mix of the favorites from Thai and Japanese. Of course they have a literal to of sushi and sashimi rolls available, but neither of us are fans of that cuisine so we didn't try them.

We started with the gyōza beef dumplings which were great as was the dipping sauce. My wife got the chicken katsu which was lightly breaded and fried. The chicken breast already sliced and was moist and tender and the accompanying brown sauce was the perfect compliment. At our waiter's recommendation, I had the chicken teriyaki. Perfectly grilled chicken breast, sliced and very moist and tender like my wife's entree. A nice teriyaki glaze covered the chicken and onto the plate. Both platters came with broccoli and carrots, miso soup and steamed rice. The miso soup had a real depth of flavor and the veggies and rice were well done.

They do not rush you out at all. They welcome you to stay, relax and enjoy your meal. Our bill came to $69 before tip which is very reasonable given the amount of food you get.

This was our first time eating at a Japanese restaurant other than a hibachi or teppanyaki place and were pleasantly surprised. We'll absolutely be back and we're looking forward to trying something else...

I am not one to provide reviews as I have only provided (3) reviews the last (20) years. I only take the time to write a review that I am extremely passionate about. To give you a little background I am an executive that travels throughout the country being fortunate enough to visit top sushi restaurants in cities like San Francisco, New York, Chicago, LA, Miami, Seattle, Dallas, just to name a few.

A friend of mine told me about the hidden gem, Oishi, and my family and I gave it a shot. WOW, UNBELIEVABLE, AMAZING, no words can rightfully describe our experience. We were floored and utterly amazed at the quality of the sushi, by far the best that we’ve had. If you are a foody, like we are, you will know the difference as soon as you take your first bite of the fresh sushi. This is the highest grade of sushi you can get, it is worth every penny, and then some. Excellent job guys and kudos to the sushi chef and the entire management team.

We live (30) minutes away in the Columbia area and even with $5/gallon gas we are more than happy to make the trip. Don’t waste your time going to your local sushi place, we can’t wait to head back there. Thank you Oishi for bringing high quality sushi...

BEST SUSHI/SASHIMI IN TOWN, and that includes the city of Annapolis. I am not sure why this place has a 4.4 rating, should be closer to 5.0! I would say that I’m a sushi/sashimi expert as I grew up eating raw fish/sushi/Japanese cuisine. I ordered a sashimi platter, along with basic salmon and spicy tuna roll just to test out Oishi’s legs. The sashimi was fresh, not overpriced, beautifully cut, portions large, and best of all, quality grade (chef included real bluefin tuna as well- not the cheap stuff). I will be coming back to this place for my sashimi cravings.

Rolls were not large, but not small (I honestly wasn’t expecting much, but I’ve had some basic rolls in this city that actually tasted like grocery store sushi. These basic rolls were good, and proportioned well.).

They make homemade sauces as well, eg their spicy sauce (not your generic store bought “chili sauce”)- this sauce is really good, and not for the weak!

I will definitely be coming back, as I hear they have special fish cuts sometimes- plus, their fish is the most fresh I’ve had in this region! Oh, cherry on top is that the customer service is great- attentive, quick, friendly!...

My wife and I just moved to Arnold and we were looking at several sushi places in Annapolis to try. We decided to try this more local place and boy we're glad we did. We sat at the bar and chatted with the chef to get his recommendations. It was so fun talking with him and hearing about all his experiences (32+ years as a sushi chef.) He was adding things to our dishes, he gave us a special spicy soy sauce with cold brined peppers to elevate the flavors. He also prepared one of his favorites which was a Cajun flavor grilled salmon belly (pictured) which was honestly the best piece of sushi I've ever eaten. We ordered a few specialty rolls (Raven, Sarah, sunrise) and a few others (mackerel, rockfish, scallop, one more.) My other favorite besides the Cajun salmon was the scallop roll which you don't see often. Such a wonderful meal and the rest of the staff were super friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back as this is now our favorite local sushi place!

I ordered carry out. I have had sushi in multiple Cities around the united states. This restaurant is a gem! They did not make me feel silly because I ordered a seaweed salad. I couldn't remember the formal name. The beautiful multicolors in the seaweed salad are stunning and delicious! The sushi I ordered was Phenomenal. Fresh fish with a ton of flavor and deliciousness. The right balance of fish and rice. Healthy meals choices. Forgive, forgive my pictures..the sushi rolls moved a bit in the carry out container when I was traveling back home. While waiting for take out order, The other patrons were speaking very positively about this restaurant. I will return again, and I look forward to trying everything on the menu!

The prices are high even for this area and the food is worse then Safeway sushi. Maybe sushi and Japanese food isn't for them. The goyza were more wrapper then filling so i was hoping the filler was flavorful or atleast decent. I got fried goyza which means in a pan then a bit of steam, these where oily messes dropped in a fryer. Dont get the dumplings. The sushi was not as fresh as Safeway and liberal use of sauce to cover the quality was obvious. The rice for the sushi must have been cooked days ago since some was mushy while other peices still hard. The tempura shrimp had a thick oily dense batter and not a nice light tempura. I hope no Japanese people ever come here.
