What can I say about this place other than it is an amazing gem of a restaurant tucked behind rows of houses and unknown to probably many people. But if you know you know. I really wish I could have taken pictures while I was there, but I wasn't thinking about that, I was simply thinking about how good this food is going to be. The ladies at the door were simply amazing. Huge smiles on their faces and it just felt welcoming to go in. And don't even get me started on our server. All I can say is wow in all capital letters over and over that this guy was amazing. From how he explained things, he has basically lived there for the past 10 years!! He knew everything about the menu forwards and backwards sideways and slant words!
We started off with the Old Bay chicken wings with a side of blue cheese and it was just amazing. I know I've said that word already before but it's really hard to explain to somebody other than amazing. Lol this is definitely worth having in every regard. In fact, I will be there many, many more times to have more of these wings! And I believe I read on their menu they have a wing Wednesday or maybe it was Wing Tuesday. I don't know one day or another. They have wings as a daily special.
I had the fish and chips because I was feeling the Northeast and where I live. You can't actually get anything like that (Texas) so I was like a pig and s* loving that breaded cod and hand cut fries. Don't even get me started on how good that tartar sauce was.
My son had this loaded Thanksgiving waffle thing and it was basically an entire Thanksgiving meal on top of under and including the waffle. With a side of cranberry sauce to boot!
My wife decided that she wanted the bourbon smoked burnt ends and she could not rave enough on how good that was. And on top of that their mashed potatoes were so creamy. Delicious and delectable that it was a whole experience. As she describes, it feels like you're at your aunt's house that favorite meal place. It was just that good.
So if the owners actually ever see this, just know that I'm sitting here on my couch in Texas. Thinking about those chicken wings. Those burnt ends. And that fish and chips. Salivating. . . can I...
Read moreGreat atmosphere, average service, average quailty food. I actually feel bad giving the average service comment, the girl was nice but she was in the weeds big time!!! She had what seemed to be 8 tables working, so that's excusable. Maybe they had some call outs or something. But obviously it hurt our service terribly. We waited at least 5 minutes at our table before being greeted with water. Our water was dropped and no drink order taken she just took off. She then returned about 5 minutes later, and got a drink order. At that point there was no way I was letting her get away without taking our order. After our food was delivered we didn't recieve one quality check from our server, which was so terrible cause there weren't really any quailty issues with the food. My Aunt had the chicken potpie and it was amazing!!!! I had the brisket which was really good, but there's no way in hell it was more then a 1/4 pound of meat, it was 3 normal size slices for a very expensive 18.99! Like I said it had a great flavor, but for what I got for my money here I get 3 times that a another local bbq company. I'm used to getting 1 pound of burnt ends, 2 pieces of cornbread and a side of homemade baked beans for 21 buck and some change. Which brings me to my next issue, I went online to check them out ad saw this beautiful plate of burntends in the pictures and guess what no burntends today. Doesnt make much sence, if you have brisket fresh smoked daily then you have burntends automaticlly, you just got to cube sauce if perfer and smoke more. Another issue I had was my beans, they were sweet and tasted like doctored canned beans. All the bbq sauces were sweet except one and what they called Carolina sauce was a mustard bbq instead of a viniger hot sauce base. Overall I would give it another shot when they seemed better staffed to handle the one hell of a good lunch rush they got when the doors opened basiclly. But I do have everything can be perfect next time, but if I get another 20 dollar meal and it has 3 little pieces of meat like that it will be...
Read moreI have gone to this place a few times with friends. I always like the food and drinks, but sitting at the bar has not always been enjoyable. I want to more than I am a former server so I understand how busy things can get. Every time I either sat at the bar or sat at the bar tables.
My first experience I came with my friend around 6pm, at the end of happy hour and sat at a bar table. The bartender served those tables, and it was not that full. Maybe 5 people at the bar and 1 other bar table. The bartenderâs energy was completely offâŚit was as if she didnât want to serve us. My friend and I didnât feel welcomed but we stuck it out and ate and caught up. After an hour, we left. I chalked it up to a Monday.
The next time I returned a few weeks later on a Monday with the same friend and someone else. This time we sat at the bar table directly in front of the bar. My friends were already there and I was late to join. Same bartender was working. She came and took my drink and food order after I had been there for about 15 minutes. She took my order at 6:15pm and she did not come back to check on us until I turned to her at 7:20 and said âwe feel a bit neglected. We would like to order some more.â Mind you, she tended to both groups on our left wand right. Instead of coming around the bar to take our orders, she asked from behind the bar what did we want to order. Again, just more of a feeling that she did not want to serve us. I still gave her 18% gratuity, but did not believe she deserved anything near that.
My husband has gone on separate occasions and has felt the same way and no longer goes there. I think that I may do the same.
Smoked wings and brisket egg rolls are...
