Right out here in the middle of bean fields sits Mattoon...and probably one of the most excellent Chinese restaurants my wife and i have eaten. The food was flavorful, tasty and as we say, more-ish (because you end up wanting "more")!! If you are tired of greasy nasty Chinese take out or even worse Fast-food in paper containers that will cost you more than a sit down meal, Then this place is a gem of a restaurant and you will not be disappointed. the Chicken in Black-Bean-Sauce is my "test" meal to see if a restaurant gets my thumbs up. Well, this knocked it out of the park, lightly spiced, and a joy to taste. i go to some restaurants and they feel they can dump a bunch of spices in so all that happens is your mouth goes thermonuclear for an hour. thats not my idea of a meal. This dish was perfectly seasoned and the right size. not a food-trough enough to feel the 5000, but enough to feed me and put a smile on my face.
There are a few simple things in life and none more satisfying than having a meal and being "happy" because it was so good that you talked about it the rest of the day.
It also helps to avoid making your tummy do test-pilot simulations pulling 6G in your car seat a few hours later.... Hunan was awesome, clean flavorful food that the only things it is pulling are the corners of your mouth from smiling how good it was.
This is our new go-to place for a great meal, where one can talk to your company, and hear them and have a conversation the atmosphere was quiet (almost reverential and church-like) but welcoming and super clean. The fish in the fish-tank was enormous...that's good luck indeed.

Read moreI was very disappointed in my $50 order. The variety is excellent, the food was decent, although something seemed different about the egg rolls... The portion sizes were TINY. I mean, I wish I had taken pictures, I thought they forgot Half of the order. The beef sticks are like, 7 or 8.99 and I don't even think there was 3oz of meat. In a plastic container. By itself. I've lived in the area forever and with all of the sickness going around, I thought if we were going to eat anything outside of our kitchen, then we should definitely support local business. I still love them, I have always loved the food. I was just shocked at how little we got, in comparison to other times. Will probably try again, but will definitely be cautious at what I'm buying and...
Read moreVery upset with my experience last night. Ordered the same thing i do from every chinese place in town. Was pretty excited as the menu on Google I was looking at was a little bit cheaper than the other places. Picked up my order and it was $74! Twice what I pay at magic wok. She said "you look at wrong menu" (the menu thats attached to the business when you look it up on google)The food was just ok. The sweet n sour chicken was an order of about 10 pieces, most of the tray being filled with fruit and veggies. The general Tso chicken, the chicken was so huge it didnt have the right ratio of sauce and the breading tasted raw. I will NOT order from here again. I won't even start on...
