THE FOOD: Basic + Overpriced Nachos. 4 chips with 4 small pieces of meat on a bed of cabbage. ($28) Teriyaki chicken sando was basic, the chips were inedible they were so hard. Flatbreads were effectively 10” thin pizzas with nothing special for $22.
The food is served in cardboard and plastic as well as the drinks which tip over and fly away from the wind as soon as they are lite enough.
Compared to other Maui restaurants this place was a solid C for food and terribly overpriced.
The drinks: Lacking + weak the reason we came. The drinks looked SO promising but although I tried 3, each lacked any of the subtle flavors promised. And after three drinks (as a lite weight drinker) I didn’t even have a buzz so…
The Staff: Curt + Impolite + not much service included One young girl with a black braid was great. The rest were disappointing. 3 staff members were impolite in no less than 3 locations with 4 different people in our group.
The Gist: We are locals and were there with locals. One of our crew is a manager of a prominent restaurant in Wailea. Another a business owner. We know Maui food and service and we expect better.
We were there just over an hour and spent $300+ with our two little tables. We all tipped 18% + even though we got our own table, our own water, were served in paper and had to dispose of our own trash, while accessing the menu through our phones.
The Kicker: This is a beautiful outdoor setting with open grass and vistas, it had only 6 tables filled (of 50?). We called in advance to ask about brining our kids and were told they were welcome. However our 3 well behaved kids (5+7) were told they could not run or play in the open grass OR even sit peacefully under a vacant table (30 feet from anyone else). NOT KID FRIENDLY. The signs at the front put it in writing.
The view is great and the live musician was lovely. ❤️ Also I will say, the service was fast, if that makes up for the rest maybe this spot is just right.
As for the rest of us, we won’t...
Read moreLet me start by suggesting that any review here that is less than 5 stars are most likely fake and they probably work for Tito’s or SKYY because this place is unreal!
I am so very fortunate to have a job that takes me all over the world and I’m able to eat at some of the finest restaurants anywhere and this place literally blows them all away.
Do yourself a favor and take the distillery tour with Joe. He’s so passionate about the facility and speaks so highly of Shay, the founder, that I felt like I knew the guy personally by the time the tour ended.
Being greeted by Tiana was the most welcoming I’ve ever experienced in my life. She was so sweet and greeted us with the warmest smile!
Then Raul came to greet us once we sat down. He remembered us from the prior evening (we’ve gone three nights in a row) and was so genuinely happy to see us, and even offered to buy us an appetizer! We had the Ahi tartar nachos and they were spectacular!
The last two nights I had the Cubano calzone and I had to fight with myself not to get it again, so I ordered the Tree Pua’a, and as expected, it was unreal. My blonde had the same mushroom truffle pizza that she’s enjoyed the last two nights.
I can say with 100% certainty that we will be back again multiple times next year and we are thrilled that we found this place and feel like we just met a whole new set of great friends.
And Shay, if you read these, I’m gonna retire in 7-8 years and refuse to quit working. So I’ll happily come work in any capacity in exchange for room and board! I’ll even build...
Read moreTOURIST TRAP WITH HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!! I’d give them zero stars, but the vodka was okay. I’m actually a local, but I feel this place is an overpriced trap to take advantage of tourists.
First of all, they made my family and I sit in the afternoon sun even though we had a baby less than a year old. There was an empty pavilion with 2 lazy staff members using it to play with their phones and more than enough space inside the restaurant, but their lazy staff didn’t want to accommodate a family of 5.
My wife, children, and I ordered overpriced poke bowls thinking maybe the food was good, since the service was horrible so far. I was wrong…. The poke was gray and tasted like it was either spoiled or sitting under a warmer too long. DISGUSTING! I hope the Deparment of Health checks this place out soon. Something’s going on back there.
I tried to send the poke bowls back, but the manager came over and told me that I was wrong. That HE and the chef both thought the poke was amazing and fresh, and tried to convince me otherwise. WHO DOES THAT? I sent it back anyway and ordered pizzas that were half decent.
At the end of our horrible experience, the manager and server still tried to charge me for the poke bowls, thinking maybe I wouldn’t notice. I noticed, and I made sure they adjusted my bill accordingly. I WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN, and I don’t recommend going out of your way to eat there either. The only thing good about that place is the garden, view,...
