Discovering Ula Ula Cafe was truly a culinary delight. Nestled in the heart of Wailuku, Maui, this food truck epitomizes the spirit of Hawaiian gastronomy with its diverse and locally sourced menu that has left an indelible impression on our taste buds.
The Chicken Katsu was a marvel to behold and a joy to savor. Perfectly crispy on the outside, the chicken was tender and juicy on the inside, offering a harmonious blend of textures and flavors that pay homage to traditional Hawaiian cooking.
Next up was the Cajun Mahi Mahi - a true masterpiece. Freshly caught and masterfully prepared, the fish was succulent and imbued with a subtle hint of Cajun spices that provided a delectable kick. The encrustation of home-grown macadamia nuts added a delightful crunch, bringing an unexpected but delightful twist to this dish.
The Hawaiian Style Hot Dog was another testament to Ula Ula Cafe's commitment to quality and innovation. It delivered a mouthwatering fusion of flavors, making it a must-try for any food lover visiting Maui.
What sets Ula Ula Cafe apart, apart from its fantastic food, is the commitment to freshness. Every bite was a testament to the farm-to-table approach that the cafe is known for, and the use of seasonal ingredients was clearly evident in the quality of the food.
Finally, a visit to Ula Ula Cafe would not be complete without mentioning the welcoming staff. Their genuine warmth and friendliness added a personal touch to our dining experience, making us feel like part of the...
Read moreUla Ula Cafe was a great stop for lunch on our way back from hiking the Waihee Ridge Trail. Fantastic spot with a shaded seating area and multiple picnic tables with a macadamia nut farm in the background. Additionally, the team working were so energetic and friendly, making small talk with all of the customers while we were there.
We ordered the vegetable egg rolls, Ula Ula Burger, and fish tacos. The vegetable egg rolls have edamame in them and are served with a delicious sauce. My husband really enjoyed his burger. It was served medium well with a taro bun, cheddar cheese, and a slice of pineapple. He said the flavors melded well, and it was very enjoyable. The fish tacos, while decent, weren't what I was expecting. They were served with lettuce, tomatoes, a bit of shredded cheese and a bit of cream sauce. The fish was fantastic, but I prefer the more traditional cabbage topping with a fruit salsa.
The last thing we tried was the Lemongrass Basil Lemonade from the smoothie stand. WOW! It was fantastic. The blend of flavors was tart, crisp, and refreshing.
We also grabbed some Auntie's Organic Rodeo General Store banana bread before we left. We just had some for breakfast, and it was moist and delicious.
What a wonderful place. Overall great experience! My husband was talking about stopping by again to try something...

Great little roadside stop perfect for some energy before hiking Waihee ridge or for some much needed refreshment after a challenging hike.
We were greeted by who I assume is the owner, who was very outgoing, kind, and hospitable. She directed us to some of their wonderful fresh picked fruit, insanely good fresh squeezed passion-orange-guava (POG) juice, and some of her favorite menu items.
We had the chicken katsu (lightly breaded fried chicken cutlets), which was delicious and I could eat every day for the rest of my life. We also had the locomoco which was made with local grass fed beef, local eggs, and homemade Mac salad and brown gravy.
Lastly, we shared the banana lumpia sundae with their own grown macadamia nuts. This was unreal it was so good.
We were definitely full after all this food but everything tasted fresh and wonderful. If you're in the area this deserves a sit down meal or even just a quick stop for some snacks to go.
Other options were some Acai bowls or smoothies, we did not have these this time, but they seemed well enjoyed on a hot day by those around us.
Go support these kind folks and their...
