As a Mazomanie resident, writing an unfavorable assessment of a local establishment is unpleasant as I want to support them as much as I can. However, I want my experience reflected in these reviews so future patrons are aware of what they should expect.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere of the restaurant itself is lovely. Eclectic collection of art and knickknacks with games available to play. We enjoyed the trivial pursuit cards on the table. There is a dog that roams freely about the indoor dining area. This is something I quite enjoy but my husband does not care for. The dog is very sweet and mostly keeps to itself but something to be aware of if you are allergic or prefer not to have animals in your dining spaces.
Drinks: Both my husband and I ordered whiskey old fashioneds. They were very good. My husband ordered a second that was accidentally made with brandy. The server offered to remake it when he realized his mistake but that wasn’t necessary, my husband enjoyed the brandy old fashioned just as much.
Food: This is where our experience began to fall apart. They have pizza and pasta on the menu, as well as a special that we did not try. For $18 you choose a pasta, three vegetables and a sauce. For an additional $8, you can add a protein. The meals do come with a small salad we all quite enjoyed, it was a mixture of Romaine lettuce and spinach with shaved Parmesan and croutons. They also give you a small loaf of bread to share that was tasty. I ordered linguini with mushrooms, broccoli and Kalamata olives with pesto cream sauce and I chose to add chicken. What I received: a VERY small portion of linguini with broccoli, mushrooms and Alfredo sauce with four small pieces (bite size) of chicken breast. This is not an exaggeration. I did not bring my phone to the restaurant with me but I wish I would have to take a photo. $26 for four bites of chicken and a side dish portion of pasta. No olives, and a completely wrong sauce. It tasted fine and I did not request they correct the mistakes because I also enjoy Alfredo sauce.
What my son ordered: capellini pasta with broccoli and Alfredo sauce. He chose to add shrimp. What he received: A very small portion of capellini pasta and broccoli with pesto cream sauce and three regular sized shrimp. Completely wrong sauce and again, way too pricy for the portion.
My husband ordered a pizza that was small but tasted good and seemed to be exactly what he ordered.
My son and I both left hungry because the portions were so small. Our bill for the evening was over $100. Unfortunately, we won’t be planning a trip back as the value for us...
Read moreThis place is a little hidden jewel with a wonderful relaxed atmosphere, great ambiance in a historical old building, and visually superb with the stained glass lamps and art décor. The food is excellent and generous for the price charged. When they get busy, it can be a wait since it is a Mom and Pop operation, but worth the delay. We love it is on the way to American Players Theatre and they do everything to help patrons get to the plays on time. We have gone twice in the past two weeks and haven't been...
Read moreReally enjoyed my dinner. Small time family operation. You can tell that they put passion into their operation.
Tomato, garlic, basil sauce was great. Tomato vodka sauce was good. Salmon not over cooked. Homemade bread was fresh, hot, and delicious!
Full bar available.
I asked the owners and they said dogs are welcome. There were 2 house dogs working as greeters.
