I wish I could give this place 6 stars! We just got our first pizza from there today! We got a large tomato pie pizza (the namesake so it must be great!). It was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Best pizza in Pittsburgh if you ask me!
We just moved to Wexford last week from shadyside and were worried about where to get good food because the suburbs is all chains and we hate chains. Also a running joke in our marriage is never try new pizza places because itās always bad. So we were nervous but from the pictures I just HAD to!
The vegetables are made in the garden on site and YOU CAN TELL WOW!!! The amazing scent scents just filled the kitchen!
We ordered to go and the owner was there alone actually! Only because college students just left but he was running a one man operation for the day and still pulled it off and there were several people there for pick up!
Was ready exactly when the owner said it would be! Very very friendly guy! Super kind and patient with all my questions.
We live 4 minutes away so I am just going to forward all my paychecks to Tomato Pie Cafe because I will be there once or twice a week forever now. Donāt ever close!!! Apart from the winter of course.
I wonder if heād let us buy tomatoes themselves because the tomatoes were out of this WORLD! I get why they call it TOMATO Pie Cafe.
Truly farm to table ingredients. Literally from their garden outside to table! DELICIOUS PIZZA!! Very friendly owner too! Very dedicated.
The move to Wexford was worth it for this place!! We are 1-2 times a week pizza people so I am THRILLED! I thought everything would be 20 mins away and get cold. This is giving us the same Shadyside pizza commute! We...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen someone tells you itās a ālocal gemā, that often means that they have come to love a spot despite its failures. This is definitely the case.
Itās never a good thing when the word ānoā prefaces so many necessary items:
NO air conditioning NO soft drinks NO credit cards
When we were greeted the server told us they were out of medium pizza shells.
NO medium pizza
Which immediately revealed that they are using ready-to cook shells and not fresh dough. Yuck.
Oh, and then they got our pizza wrong too, but we couldnāt send it back because⦠you guessed it, they ran out of large pizza shells too!
So you can imagine my shock when I paid $60, -SIXTY- for two large, sloppy pizzas with 6 cups of water.
I was told by the server that most people bring their own wine as a beverage. Because thatās what the kids want after swimming all day at the North Park Pool, a nice glass of Merlot.
Never going back again, if you locals like it so much you can have it. Iāll pick one of the other hundreds of local pizza places in Pittsburgh that donāt say...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family and I got there at 6 PM. We were seated at 6:15 PM onto a dirty table that had the previous people that were eating there still with their dirty dishes. The waitress told us to sit while we can, and she would be over to clean off the table at 7 PM. Our table was still not cleaned off, and we were still sitting there with dirty glasses and dirty dishes on the table. The waitress was an older lady with blonde hair. Who told everybody she was going to call off that night i sure wish she wouldāve. The next waitress was a girl who was all of 16 years old, who kept telling us she was going to come over and take our order. At 7:20. She finally came over and got our order. We were not served until 8 oāclock and all we got was pizza place is filthy, dirty. Our pizza was cold and my wifeās spaghetti ātomato with basil āwas ice cold!! at 8:20 I asked for a check and the young girl said I will be right out with it at 8:40. I went in the restaurant and demanded my check. I will never go to that place again. Horrible,...
