This place oozes with character, and as it turns out, is one of several quirky gift shops/variety store/lunch counters that dot both Route 44 and Route 6. This one stands out because of the giant black bear by the side of the road. The store is a conglomeration of thrift shop, used books, snacks and fun apparel for the whole family. It’s included a number of different products and services over the years, but the Trading Post was always the main attraction for me, and I’m DELIGHTED that the new owners have brought it back from the dead, and are operating it in the same spirit I remember as a kid! Like any good trading post, you’ll find a variety of items from the extremely practical to extraordinarily quirky! Local arts, antiques, hunting and fishing supplies, canned goods, ice cream, souvenirs, and a great place to just sit and relax by the fireplace. It’s just good fun stopping here - I hope I’m able to do so for the next 50...

Reminded me of all those Mom & Pop truck stops of...
