Our New Favorite Pizza Spot: A Delicious and Affordable Discovery I think we’ve finally found our go-to pizza place. After wanting something truly delicious all week, we decided to place an order, and it absolutely exceeded our expectations. We got two large pizzas, and from the moment we opened the boxes, I knew we had found a winner. First up was the Large Chicken and Jalapeño pizza. For only $11.99, I was honestly blown away by the quality. The crust had that perfect golden-brown bake—chewy and soft on the inside with a nice crispness to the edge. It was loaded with toppings. The grilled chicken was savory and tender, and they were not shy with the jalapeños, which gave every single bite a bright, spicy kick that was noticeable but not overwhelming. It was all held together by a generous layer of perfectly melted, stringy mozzarella. It’s a simple combination, but they executed it flawlessly. It’s rare to find a specialty pizza that’s both this delicious and this affordable. The second pizza was our own custom creation, a half-and-half designed to satisfy everyone. One side was a classic, straightforward cheese pizza. You can always judge a place by its plain cheese, and this was fantastic—the tomato sauce was rich and tangy, and the cheese was bubbly and delicious. It was the perfect, comforting slice. The other half was where we got a little creative, topping it with jalapeños, cashews, and bell peppers. I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but it was a phenomenal combination. The sharp heat from the jalapeños was balanced by the fresh, mild crunch of the green bell peppers. The absolute star, though, was the cashews. They added a buttery, rich crunch that was so unexpected and satisfying. It gave the pizza a unique savory depth that I’ve never had before. It was a complete success and a combination I will definitely be ordering again. Overall, this meal was a huge hit. Both the classic menu item and our own custom pizza were made with high-quality ingredients and baked to perfection. Finding a place that delivers this level of flavor, especially at such a great price point, is a win in my book. I can't recommend it enough, and I’m already looking forward to...
Read moreUsed to get great pizza here. One time they raised the prices 30% all at once and I still bought pizza here because it was that good. I stopped ordering for a while until recently. Totally different experience now. I tried twice to make sure it wasn't a one off. I got the same exact thing both times. The thick crust is no longer thick crust. The extra cheese isn't extra at all. It was barely ok for the regular amount. The pizza was overcooked making the cheese get hard and the toppings dry. The difference is so stark it's kind of amazing. They've messed up my orders once or twice before but it seems every pizza place does at some point. These last 2 were pitiful and in the same exact way. The skimpy ingredients seems like a try at increasing profit by giving less for the price. I saw a bad review for all the same reasons from 2 months ago so obviously nothing effective has been done to change it. Anyway I'll not be ordering here anymore. Not interested in having to complain in order to get good food. I like my pizza on Friday nights way too much to risk getting bad pizza again after I've paid well and waited anxiously for it to arrive. Im not interested in coupons or anything for free so in the event that they do read this they needn't bother. Just make good pizza again. FYI, the few stars I gave it were because they usually take less than an hour for delivery and the place itself is fairly...
Read moreEdit: updated review to 5 stars after Shelby’s response stating that my grumbles are a Door Dash issue, and not their policy. Happy to go back, we’ll just do pickup from now on. Hands down the BEST pizza in Frisco or Mckinney at least. Love that it's owned by a local family, too. Staff has never been anything by exemplary.
The reason for marking "Service" as 3 stars is that last time we went to place an order, a little box popped up saying their delivery was being handled by DoorDash now. Why that business decision was made is none of my concern, however the pop up wording "tips ensure speedier service" left a REALLY bad taste in my mouth. It feels really gross to basically say "whoever is willing to pay the most beyond the menu cost gets their food first." You should get your food in the order it was made/completed.
That specific piece of it may be DoorDash policy and not Shelby's - but still, why would you partner your incredible business with a company that blatantly prioritizes food delivery by who pays the most? Tips are supposed to be for great service AFTER you have received the service; quick delivery shouldn't be held hostage based on who pays the most. Haven't ordered from Shelby's since then because it's just a gross practice....
