We've been ordering take out from Village since they've opened. We like their pizzas very much. Their Italian subs remind me of the grinders I ate as a kid growing up in Hartford, CT which brings back a bit of nostalgia. Steak subs are good as well as their french fries. The only miss we've experienced foodwise was a pizza made incorrectly and burnt. I didn't check it at their place so my fault. I did take a photo of it and e-mailed it along with a brief note to give them a heads up in case someone new working for them might not be up to speed in training, but more importantly, for the owners to see what came out of their kitchen. I received an immediate response and phone call from the owner apologizing and told me my next pizza was on the house. I never took them up on the free pizza for the owners would never knowingly allow food in that way leave their restaurant. They are good people and are very proud of their establishment and the food they create. I'm proud they are a part of the community we live in. They have a great business and good people helping them keep...
Read moreNo stars. They like to close an hour early then sit at the door and not say anything. Very rude. It’s a shame because we really enjoy the food. But we won’t be back. I really enjoy consistent hours and service. So I’ll stick to restaurants that offer just that. Posted at 8:15 pm on a Monday evening sitting in the parking lot. With a clear sign that says open until 9. Two thumbs down. 😕 And now their employees arguing claiming they were open until AT LEAST 8:30. So much rudeness. I understand how hard it is to put a note on the door saying “sorry!! We had to close early today! “ or the employee watching us try to get in, come over and say, “I’m so sorry, we had to close early this evening! Please try us again next time.” But If either one of this had been done, this review wouldn’t have been written. Arguing employees is not a good look. Especially when your employees aren’t telling the truth. What a turn off. I’m new to the area and I really hope there are better local businesses...
Read moreThis is our favorite restaurant for Diner food and one of the best kept secrets in Maine, IMO. We go there a couple of times a month and I've never witnessed anything like the event described in the bad review. Sounds like a group of disgruntled tourists who think they should be able to p*ss on everybody because they've got a Massachusetts license plate on their car. Anyway, give yourself a treat and try the french fries here. They taste exactly like the ones my Grandmother made 40 years ago in a cast iron spider. Her secret? She cooked 'em in lard - and I suspect they're doing the same thing at the Village Pizzeria. Hey, it ain't health food, but they're french fries for crying out loud! And - oh yeah - did I mention? For 5 bucks, you get a mound of 'taters the size of Mount...
