I have visited this restaurant several times and had the BEST SERVICE.
The downfall happened on the weekend of Father's Day. We went and surprisingly we were sat at the same exact table that we have been at on the other visits. Again, we had to play musical chairs and swap some out due to just being too wobbly for our comfort. The girl who sat us down said the waitress would be over shortly. We looked through the menu as we all wanted to try something different. As we sat waiting to order and at least get something to drink, the waitress came over and asked politely what would we like to order. My mom ordered the Greek Style Philly only to be told by this waitress they do not serve that on Saturdays. So my mom had to find something else to order.
Minutes later the other waitress came over with an annoyed attitude and said "what do ya'll want"? my mom still had not decided as it was just a few minutes after being told by first waitress they don't serve the Greek Style Philly on the weekends. After a few moments the first waitress came back and my mom told her she would like the Roast Beef Melt, then I was asked and this waitress was literally standing right beside me and I clearly spoke that I wanted the Roast Beef Melt with onions and peppers. This waitress said "repeat yourself" I was shocked as she was right there and I did not talk low or mumble. I asked what sides come with it and we were told its just the sandwich for $13.00. I wanted to try the potato salad and they charge $1.50 for a small amount, which they should include as 1 side to come with the sandwich. She took my fathers order and had no issue hearing him and he speaks low. So that was the first Red Flag.
Our food came out and the second waitress bought out my parents food rudely asked who had what. I said my father has the Pastrami Melt and my mom had the Roast Beef Melt. This waitress was caught by all of us at the table Rolling her eyes. The first waitress bought my food out a bit later. Both my mothers and my Roast Beef Melt had no flavor, the bread was soggy when bought to the table. The meat had no flavor what so ever which was shocking to us. Both Roast Beef Melts just were not what we were expecting. For the price you would think it would have some sort of flavor. The potato salad was extremely good though. No one came to see how we were doing, the second waitress (the rude one) was really nice to some people and not nice to others that were there. We saw her roll her eyes multiple times when customers were asking for things like plates, silverware etc.
The bill came and due to how poorly we were treated I went to the register to pay. The first waitress who seated us had just finished ringing out a customer then tells me "I'll be right back I have to go wipe a table down", then the second waitress came rushing up and just was so phony and fake with her attitude asking how it was. I explained this time was a disappointment and the food had no flavor and the fact her attitude and eye rolling just was unacceptable. I could see she wanted to argue and I just calmly told her that we watched how she reacted to "certain" customers and how she was outgoing for some and rude for the others. She immediately said "We have cameras here and I don't roll my eyes" the funny part was when she was saying that she immediately rolled her eyes. I took the change and said that people do reviews for others to know and have insight and she kept repeating herself "we have camera's". Then while still standing at the register pulls out her cell phone and starts typing away on it.
I have been to the other locations and oh my gosh the service is amazing at the others locations, the food taste great and the people are so friendly who work at those locations. They truly want customer satisfaction. This location in Hanover on Atlee Road does not carry that friendly attitude, as the locations on Iron Bridge Road, Polo Place and the one on...
Read moreMy family and I visited this "Greek" restaurant after the Mechanicsville Christmas Parade was over. It is a small quaint restaurant with limited seating but comfortable. I'm always looking for a good Greek restaurant that serves authentic, quality Greek food as I am Greek myself. So I was excited to try this place. When we walked in we were greeted by a polite young lady who promptly sat us. I asked her if she knew who the owner is as the Greek community is typically tight and I thought I might know the family or maybe they attended the Greek Church here in Richmond. She said that she didn't know who it was as she was new to the restaurant. After we were seated, we ordered our drinks and then dinner. I ordered the Feta Meatball App and the Horiatiki Salad with Lamb. My wife ordered a cup of Avgolemon (Avgolemono) soup and the Greek Lemon Chicken. Her son ordered the Olympian Pizza. The Avgolemon soup was OK although I don't believe it was made the traditional way with eggs and hot chicken broth. It was a close copy. It they did make it that way then the soup was days old as it will lose it's consistency as it ages. The Greek Lemon Chicken also was OK... the skin wasn't crispy and the green beans that came with it tasted odd. I'm assuming that the green beans are supposed to be Fasolakia Yiahni or just Yiahni. There was a flavor with the beans I couldn't identify. Typically Yiahni is made with green beans, onions, garlic and extra virgin olive oil. But there was something else in there. The Feta Meatball App meatballs were not homemade and it was heavily covered in mozzarella and feta cheese that it overpowered the meatballs. The Horiatiki Salad with Lamb was a disappointment as the salad itself seemed thrown together and was heavy on the red onion which seemed to be clumped at the bottom of the bowl. On the menu it says that you can order it with Lamb. I did but to my disappointment it wasn't Lamb.... it's Gyro meat. Gyro meat is used to make Gyro sandwiches and is made from hamburger mixed with ground lamb and in some cases they will also use ground pork. It is not Lamb nor does it taste like Lamb. I asked the server if they have real lamb to add to the salad but she said that this is the lamb that they have. My response was that this is not lamb. If your menu says that you have lamb, then have REAL LAMB not gyro meat and call it lamb. The Olympian Pizza was a 12 inch pizza but you can tell as soon as it was delivered that the pizza dough is not fresh made. It appears to be frozen. I had asked the server if the chef/cooks in the kitchen are Greek. She promptly said "No". There in lies the problem, who ever they are, they don't know how to properly prepare and cook Greek food. Overall, the experience was not a bad one.... it's just that this is NOT authentic prepared Greek food. This place has potential.... they just need to know to properly prepare they food before they call it authentic Greek...
Read moreLet me start by saying the appetizer we got was very good. Unfortunately the service was pretty subpar. I had to tell them my order a total of three separate times, the third time being because they brought me the wrong order. Once they made the gyro with lamb as asked, it was still the worst gyro I've ever had from any Bell Greek in 20 years.. It was so wet, that the bread was falling apart and I could not finish it. The entirety of me eating it. It was dripping never ending, until there was a complete puddle filling the entire bottom of my plate.
When the waitress asked how it was, I told them it was not particularly good. It was very moist, and her response was, "but you enjoyed it right?" I explained it was not good because of all the liquid, which made it unenjoyable. She agreed that it was the most liquid she had ever seen on a gyro, looking at the plate. And said that they had just gotten fresh lamb and it was extra juicy and they did not have time to properly drain it, which didn't add up. Because that's basically them admitting to not properly preparing the food but still charging full price.
I won't be ordering the lamb gyro moving forward at this location, in this economy I can't afford to be eating other people's mistakes.
The reason I didn't ask for it to be remade. Is it was already remade the gyro once due to the waitresses error when she brought out a chicken gyro instead of lamb so it made it awkward to try to say. "Can you bring it out a third...
