This place is sooooooo good! I had the jerk chicken and the curry chicken. AMAZING. The cabbage was so delectable. I could have enjoyed a side of plantains by themselves it was so good. I love jamaican food and so happy that I got a chance to come and try the food... the curry chicken.... super tender.
Okay... now that I have some time, I can give you some details. Since this is a food truck, it will be a little different than usual.
AMBIANCE:
now if you seen any of my prior reviews I give the decor and things a quick mention. The truck is colorful and fun. Of course it gives you island vibes... as it should. It quaint and cute. Overall, it meets the status quo. I will let you know that there aren't any pic nice tables or anything like some trucks right now but it is really nice given that the owner told me they started up not long ago.
SERVICE:
I made it there late and on the brink of it closing. With that in mind, I was greater with a smile and a welcome. The service wasn't a long drawn out process and the cook was very hospitable.
Food:
I already told you guys about the good above but I can tell you now that EVEN AS LEFTOVERS.... quick heat up and it was back like it never left. You have to mention that sometimes because some places have food that doesn't travel well let alone stand the left over challenge.
Now I heard that they have some pasta.... I GOTTA GET BACK AND TRY IT!!!! I'll be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI treated myself here on Motherās Day yesterday for the first time and the lady working the front was very pleasant. I noticed the couple sitting in, food looked very good and was steaming hot. once I was handed my plate I noticed that the plate didnāt have much weight to it. Iām from Mississippi Iām use to big plates especially if I am paying over $31.00 bucks!! I stay 5 minutes from the establishment and was expecting my plate to be steaming like the couple that were sitting when I opened but instead it was warm as if it was just sitting. The oxtails are sooo small with very little meat (LITERALLY) that Iād imagine if I wanted to order them again from this establishment I would need to order extra! The flavor was decent but not exploding in flavor like Iād expected. Only one plantain was given and the cabbage isnāt tender as Iām use to (maybe itās a cultural thing idk as this was my first time trying āJamaican Foodā) . In addition to all of this, I will give them another try but not with the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my introduction to Jamaican food and it was a great one. I was in Memphis for work and had gone out for BBQ with some coworkers to an extremely well-known restaurant the night before, but we were all very disappointed with the food. One of my workmates asked if I liked Jamaican food, and when I said I had never had it he said he knew just the place. The atmosphere of Gullys was spot on. The staff was super friendly and attentive. And the food was incredible. Their "spicy" jerk sauce brought some delicious pain, but all of it was great. We were sorry that we didn't come later in the week when they have ox tail and goat, but the jerk chicken stands on its own merits. I will definitely be back when I am...
