Absolutely incredible, the best desserts in Memphis. I’m a spoiled midtowner and rarely venture outside the Parkways, but I was craving some kunafe and baklawa and had seen friends posting some really good pictures from here, so I asked my partner to bring me here on my birthday with the family. It was beyond my expectations.

The baklawa was so fresh, the perfect combination of sweet and savory, perfectly crisp, and absolutely delightful. The pastries themselves were crafted beautifully, making an excellent presentation in the case – I can see why their catering must be so popular! We tried the walnut and pistachio versions. Normally I would immediately choose pistachio, but the walnut one was just as delicious, and I’m so glad we could try them both.

The kunafa was served warm, the sweet cheese perfectly melted, and the slice was heavy with rich syrup. It was a really generous portion, too. I’m very serious, it was just as good as the best homemade kunafe I’ve had.

Another highlight was the ka’ak bil Tamr – crumbly bracelet-shaped cookies filled with date paste – not overwhelmingly sweet, perfectly balanced flavors.

So we had a whole mix of amazing Palestinian sweets, which the adults and kids all loved. My partner and my brother had the house-roasted coffee, brewed traditionally and fragrant with cardamom. There was so much more to try, so we will have to come back – especially when the weather gets warmer and that rolled ice cream starts calling my name.

The family who owns and runs the shop are SO kind and friendly, and it was a pleasure to support their business. The atmosphere was calming and the shop was beautiful, too. The perfect way to end a special evening. Definitely worth the drive, and I won’t wait until my next...

This is my new favorite local bakery!

I have been eyeing this bakery on Uber Eats. Tonight, I decided to give them a try and I do NOT regret it. As a connoisseur of sweet treats, I have been longing for a bakery that will wow me. While there are some pretty good bakeries here in Memphis, only a few stand out as having a wide variety of delicious products. Those bakeries finally have some competition with Petra.

A few of the things that I ordered were unavailable. So, a lovely man was kind enough to call me and discuss substitutes. I do not know his particular role, but he's awesome. I ended up receiving pistachio cheesecake, strawberry cheesecake, pistachio baklava, berry cake, blueberry cheesecake, and (what I think is) madlula.

Everything tastes wonderful. The baklava is the best I've ever had. I really like baklava, but find most versions to be too sweet. The pistachio baklava is perfectly balanced without the overwhelming sweetness of too much syrup. The berry cake is ridiculously good. It's so moist. I'm so tired of eating dry cake, lol. No shade to other bakeries, but your cakes and cupcakes are dry. The berry cake would be my wedding cake. That's how serious I am about this cake. 😂

To the bakery staff: Thank you so much for your phone call tonight. I really appreciate the extra treat. 😉 I'm excited to try so many other things. I will be ordering again. Enjoy the rest of your...

Petra Pastry in Memphis is an absolute gem and a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth or a love for authentic Middle Eastern hospitality. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warmth and genuine kindness.

Their kunafa is hands down the best in the city — rich, perfectly crisp on the outside, and gooey with just the right amount of sweetness on the inside. It’s a melt-in-your-mouth experience you won’t forget.

The chocolate mousse is silky smooth and indulgent, and the tiramisu cake strikes the perfect balance between creamy, coffee-soaked layers and light, airy texture. Both are simply divine.

And don’t miss their ice cream — it's fresh, flavorful, and a perfect finish to your visit, especially on a warm Memphis day. Every bite at Petra Pastry is crafted with love and served with a smile. Truly a sweet haven with even sweeter people. Highly...

the girl working there was so nice!!!! she was very helpful with my friend and i and she kept giving us stuff for free to try and it was all so delicious. she was super patient because we couldnt make up our minds on what we wanted since we didnt know what most of the things in the display were but they all looked so good. she gave us some kunafa to try and i immediately bought some and i have not stopped thinking about it since. trust me, it's spectacular and you will not be able to get enough of it. we also shared some ma'amoul (tasty little cookies filled with fig) and some sort of pineapple custard (???) cup thing? whatever it was it was delightful. all this to say, please make sure to visit this lovely, welcoming, cozy pastry shop as soon as you get the chance. i will certainly be coming back, and once you've tried it, so will you. wonderful is an understatement!

The owner is a friend of my dad and we visited a couple times when it opened. Every single time, without fail, we would get free samples and they would refuse to let us pay. Later on, I got catering for an event and they were so kind and cooperative. First, they helped us decide what deserts would be best (because we didn't know of some things they offered) and owner, Assad, even delivered them himself and stayed to show us the correct way of serving. I really loved the whole experience and I visit every time I pass by the area. My whole family eats from Petra Pastry now. In the picture (from bottom to top) we got the basbousa, walnut baklava, basbousa again, cheese baklava (has a different name I can't remember), and pistachio baklava. The owner is the one in green.
