Great food.... love the biscuits... a little pricey though.
UPDATED!! 2025 Returned but to new location on Winchester. Restaurant interior is newer & clean & comfortable BUT you must now order on a kiosk which I did not like that I wasn't given an option...It was like standing in line at an ATM while people impatiently watch you. I spent over $80 on a 24 piece mixed with 2- 2pack cookies! How CHICKEN came to be nearly $100 is crazy to me. Even crazier was the food wasnt very good. Problem #1 I paid more for mix chicken yet the wings were very tiny and dry...mostly bone! The legs were small as were the thighs...now how u get little thighs? Not good. Problem#2 Four "Family" sides supposedly came with the meal. I chose (2)fries and (2)grean bean. All the sides were small individual size! Not Family size! The green beans were really good but there was only 2 tiny containers so only 2 people could get a sample. I say "sample" because it was just that. Even fries came on a tiny card board tray! It was literally enough for one small child. The biscuits were dry as hell even though I asked for extra honey/ butter they must have been old. The cookies tasted like cornbread & peanut butter. Overall it was an expensive dissapointment. The sauce on the chicken & string beans were probably the best items I got. It will be a very long time IF I ever return. I hate to see a restaurant upgrade and then start changing how they serve there customers for the worse...I really use to enjoy there food and I wish them success but they need to do better if they continue to charge premium prices...
Read moreSaw restaurant on Food Network. Then, a few weeks later, Uncle Lou's had a spot in the concession stand at the game I attended at the Liberty Bowl Stadium & really enjoyed it. A few weeks later had to go to Memphis for a funeral service. After leaving church, drove to restaurant. Because of location, best to go during daylight hours. Asked Cashier what she would recommend? She politely gave some recent accolades of the restaurant & suggested the Chicken Tenderloins & Biscuits . We got the 6 piece Chicken Tenderloins, which comes with 3 Biscuits, 2 sides, & 2 Drinks. For the sides, got Potato Salad & "Honey Mac N' Cheese". Got 3 extra biscuits. Tried Chess Pie. Food was cooked to order, so food was hot & fresh. You can either order online, in Self-checkout line, or with the Cashier. There were several orders ahead of me, so be prepared for a wait, especially on the weekend. Food was really good. I think the sauce was great, but my wife really is not a sauce person. For future reference, if you don't want sauce, ask can you get it on the side or plain. I really liked the Potato Salad. We didn't realize the Mac N' Cheese was a little sweet and had a little too much pepper but was still good. I normally do not like Chess Pie because it is super sweet, but Uncle Lou's Chess Pie was the best Chess Pie I have ever had because it was not too sweet. I will be returning to Uncle Lou's and can't wait to get...
Read moreI ordered 1 four-piece whole wing (hot) with mac & cheese, 1 four-piece (mild) with mac & cheese, and an extra side of okra. The wings had good flavor, but overall, my experience was not impressive.
The food came out lukewarm. The mac & cheese was a little smashed into the container like it had been sitting for a while. The flavor leaned sweet—almost like a honey mac & cheese. It wasn’t terrible, just not really my thing. The okra, however, was the biggest letdown. It was unseasoned, not hot, not crispy—more like chewing gum. Definitely disappointing, especially for the price, since the small portion was only about a handful.
Another issue: the setup. There’s no register, only two self-kiosks, and for a first-time visitor, that was confusing. No one was around to give extra direction or explain the menu. We ordered inside, and when our food was bagged, no napkins or utensils were included. That was frustrating since we planned to eat downtown while watching the sunset. How was I supposed to enjoy mac & cheese or clean up after without basics like that?
On the positive side, the wings themselves had good taste, and the food was affordable overall (though the okra didn’t feel worth the cost).
All in all, Uncle Lou’s was just okay. The wings were solid, but the sides, service setup, and attention to details like utensils and napkins need improvement. I left not...
