A little disappointed with the Easter holiday menu..two of the 9 or 10 entrees included lamb .only one chicken dish but it was cordon bleu so had prosciutto..i don't eat red meat so only had about 3 choices..i went with the stuffed sole since it was the least expensive.26.00 I think. The other entrees included prime rib, ham, steak, beef Wellington and 2 other seafood..stuffed shrimp, scallops with pasta I think..another chicken dish without ham should have been included and a vegetarian dish would have been nice..Prime rib was very good according to my husband..stuffed sole was good, not great.the chicken cordon blue was good but diner said wouldn't order it again..not bad but not great. Smashed potatoes and green beans rounded out the plates..a complimentary kielbasa appetizer was given to every table as well as very good bread and large salads..no complaints with the service...i just wish I could have seen the menu before making the reservations..i would have picked a different restaurant.not happy with the entree choices this time. Update: dined on july 24 and everything was just awful...tough chewy calamari, soupy chicken gorgonzola and tasteless chicken piccata the squash was very close to raw. Very surprised and disappointed.i think they have a new chef who is not that good. Taking off a star. Update : went back for Valentine's day and they no longer give out the roses that they used to give. The food again was not up to our expectations. The mashed potatoes and green beans were good but very near cold.im glad that they changed out the inedible garnish on the potatoes with a greasier but edible potato chip.my stuffed shrimp were warm but the stuffing had an odd taste that I never noticed before..kind of like an old fish taste. Prices very high for what was served (30.00 for 3 shrimp.37.00 for prime rib).service was slow but they were very busy so I'll excuse that but all in all we were disappointed again.probably going to look for a new place for our holidays.
Valentine day 2024 My husband made this reservation.no roses just a small dove chocolate on the dinner plate.prices higher than last year.service so slow my husband joked that his credit card would expire before we could pay the bill. Green beans stone cold again.the only thing that was hot was my baked potato. sigh...i think that's it for me.the crowds have thinned here..people notice the difference.ill make the reservation elsewhere next year. One more thing..there really is no excuse for a white table cloth restaurant to be using canned or...
Read moreVisited Sans Souci on recommendation of a friend who joined us for dinner. Pleasant atmosphere upon entering. Prime Rib was good. Salad was fresh for all of our meals. But those were the only highlights. We enjoyed the basic flavor of our cups of clam chowder but two of us found zero pieces of clam and I found 3 tiny pieces totaling about the size of a dime...should have called it clam juice chowder. Tilapia with scallop stuffing was overcooked dry... the stuffing was grey and obviously made with older, almost bad scallops which they decided to use in their stuffing mixture. Breaded veal dish was covered or should I say floated in a thick cream sauce over a bed of potatoes... Very unappetizing to look at and consume.
Waitress did not wait for us to even be near completing our meals when she's asked if we wanted containers for leftovers rushing us to complete our meals while taking her time bringing us refills on our waters and refilling three other tables water glasses before ours...not very welcoming to treat first time customers.
Well... Two of us are at home now... Sick to our stomachs.
Will definitely not be returning...even the person introducing us to the restaurant since she said she would probably never go back.
Woops...almost forgot... There was a sweet older woman... who may have been the owner..who asked us how our meal was just before leaving our table.... I told her everything was fine and thank you... Could not get myself to tell her how much we disliked...
Read moreI have this friend who kept strongly recommending this place to eat at whenever I saw him. I finally caved in and tried it out and went. I went with my lady friend. I know I only have been here once, but I must say out of all the Italian restaurants I’ve been to, based off the meals and service we had; this has got to be the best Italian restaurant I’ve been to in Meriden and one of the best if not the best in the state. I had gotten scallops that were high quality and the bread and special seasonal olive oil was amazing and am still thinking about it. All the food was high quality. There was this amazing appetizer pizza made out of cauliflower with mozzarella and tomatoes. It was so delicious. Joe was our waiter and provided us with outstanding service. He was very attentive. He gave good recommendations on what to get. He recommended this salad with dressing with basil which was phenomenal. My lady friend liked it so much she ordered one too. I only had one meal that day and that’s all I needed because I was so satisfied. We’ll definitely be back. Keep up...
