Al's Family Diner — Restaurant in Methuen

My boyfriend and I went here this morning due to the high Google ranking. Shorty after we got there another couple came in and they went to the counter, which was fine because we wanted to sit at a table or booth. We waited 5-10 minutes WITHOUT being remotely acknowledged by any of the diner's employees, even though AT LEAST 5 employees walked past us several times. Two other groups came in after we had been waiting 5-10 minutes and then the last group walks by because they wanted to sit at the counter. Then that group saw that there were empty tables and asked if they could sit at a table they were standing next to, to which an employee "said sure sit wherever you want". The party waiting directly behind us even made a comment to us like that should be your table, you guys have been waiting. What we found ridiculous is: 1) there is a sign that said "Kindly, please wait to be seated", 2) no one acknowledged us for 5-10 minutes (closer to 10 minutes) and 3) they did not try to rectify the problem once they were made aware by ourselves and the party directly behindus. I cannot say if it was due to VERY poor customer service, age discimination (since we are young) or the fact we are a biracial couple. But I can say for a fact we will NOT be returning back to this horrible establishment, I do wish you could give 0 stars with Google. Thankfully due to a good citizen found a MUCH better diner...

The food is great and reasonably priced ! The service is terrific ! Friendly place ! Great food, great service, fair pricing

I have been living in this area for a little over 20 years now and I'm not sure when Al's first opened but I always remember them being around first in the actual dinner building and now in it's current location.

Al's has the best breakfast food in the town of Methuen hands down!! the waitresses and all of the staff are always helpful cheerful and attentive. There is plenty of parking and you could even go next door and hit a bucket of balls at the driving range if you'd like after breakfast is over.

The staff and the customers are friendly and welcoming to all but Al's is definitely a meeting place for locals, every time I go there I see handfuls of people that I know and I'm happy to bump into to and visit with.
