Stellar Review for POW Restaurant
Today, my family and I had the pleasure of celebrating my mom's 55th birthday at POW Restaurant, and I can't say enough about our wonderful experience! We were a party of 10, with five children and five adults, and from the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed.
We were greeted politely and seated in the lounge area while our table was set up. The owner, Rene (I hope I spelled her name correctly), went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and had adequate seating—her attention to detail made us feel special right from the start.
Our server, Kay, was absolutely impeccable! The service was beyond compare, and she made sure our experience was nothing short of excellent. Now let’s talk about the food-oh my goodness, it was finger-licking good! It truly felt like the chefs and staff were pouring their hearts into every dish.
We ordered a delightful spread that included catfish and grits, pancakes, birthday cake pancakes, lamb chops and potatoes, shrimp and grits, pow pow shrimp, fried shrimp, eggs, and more. Each bite touched my soul, and I was thoroughly impressed with the quality and flavor of everything we received.
I genuinely encourage everyone to visit this location. Often, when dining at black-owned businesses, the service can fall short, but today was a refreshing reminder of what excellent service looks like. The attention we received from both the owner and our server was amazing, and it made our celebration even more memorable.
I truly hope you have the same fantastic experience when you visit POW Restaurant. I will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you, POW Restaurant, for a beautiful day of celebration! Until...
Read moreBrunch for 12 people 11 people leave happy and full!! The 12th person not so much. Let me start off by saying POW is nice and the decor is very Chic, the food was delicious (from the 11 people who actually ate)( I sampled most of the dishes at the table) I ordered the Peach Cobbler waffle being that we were a large party I understood that our food wouldn't come out all at the same time and everyone was fine with that I waited and I waited finally after letting wait staff know twice that I was waiting they bought my bacon and eggs and said my waffle would be out.... waiting they bring a plate that wasn't what I ordered so at this point I told them to remove it from my bill, the owner came over to apologize and gives me the reason behind why it took so long to receive my foood. I appreciated that she came to apologize and take the waffle of my tab and offered to still plate my waffle so I could still taste it. When she decided to give me the explanation of why the food was delayed is when I got annoyed because I know what "Cooking from Scratch is" and it really didn't help her case after I tasted the peach cobbler waffle, yes the waffle was flavorful but it had a few peaches on it, graham crackers, whip cream and syrup where was the cobbler part??This one mishap isn't a total deterrent for me not try them again it just was a bad first impression, but please try the Hennessy Sidecar drink and the couch waffle Overall I would recommend this place and give it five stars despite...
Read moreUPDATED REVIEW: On a recent trip to POW, the service, food, and time of food to table was very good so those ratings were elevated from three to four stars. Updated 3-11-25 POW is a place with potential to be great. It is the subtle things that overshadow the good. Upon entering you wait at the hostess desk, but the hostess was also the waitress. To her credit, once she appeared from the back and tended to other tables their food, she acknowledged we were there, and that she'd be there shortly. She asked if we had reservations, so in hearing we did not, our options were the four tables left in sight so squeezed together that you looked as if you were seated with others. That became uncomfortable when a couple of people began to engage on their cellphones. So make a reservation!!! You will be whisked into another unseen part of the restaurant. I ordered Fried Catfish with Fish. The grits, unknown to me had cheese in them. They were very cheesy and came across as too salty. The fish filets was seasoned well and fried just a bit too crispy. The atmosphere was nice and a steady stream of customers was apparent. With extra staffing and a better seating arrangement that is not so tight POW might stand out. First, you must get there but call to verify their address as it was incorrect on their IG page. Being lost by means of a quick fix, was strike one. Like I stated the...
