JC Grill & Pizza at Essex Sports Center — Restaurant in Middleton

I’ll preface this by saying I’m usually one of those people who only leaves reviews for great experiences. I’ve ordered from JC Grill a number of times and have always been satisfied. Unfortunately after tonight, I won’t be ordering from there again. First strike was when I ordered a tuna sub for my son, and they delivered a fried haddock sub instead 🤢. How does one even make that mistake?? They get four stars for service because they did remake a tuna sub and delivered it pretty quickly. But then came the second strike. My daughter ordered a turkey club and complained to me that the turkey tasted weird. Sure enough, it had that unmistakable smell of deli meat past it’s prime. So… BLT it was for her. Third (and yet not final strike) was when I opened my chef salad to find not ham and turkey as they described, but ham and MORTADELLA (probably because they realized their turkey was bad after they put it on the club). I don’t even like mortadella. Last straw was when I pulled apart all the deli meat rolls to attempt to salvage the ham and swiss… the ham was in the same boat as the turkey. For a pretty expensive take out meal, I’m really peeved. It’s one thing to call the restaurant to fix one meal but there’s no excuse for three bad meals. No word on the 3-way salad my husband ordered since he hasn’t...

We had our food delivered to the hotel. It was here much faster than we thought it would be and the gentleman brought it to our room which was very nice. I got a cheeseburger with side of steak fries and side of onion rings. The fries and onion rings were still hot when they got here and soooo good. The onion rings were perfectly crunchy. The ranch is high quality ranch and the honey mustard is really good too. My sister got a veggie sub sandwich and said it’s very good. She also got the sweet potato fries and said they’re also very very good. The actual burger leaves a bit to be desired as it is a thin burger that seems like it may have been frozen at some point. That’s my only “complaint” but I’m also very picky about my burgers so I still say 5 stars. Very good food and quick delivery....

I ordered a Roast Beef sub and I'm not sure it could have been worse. It had a weird texture of soft shavings of beef. (Responding to the owner - I'm not sure that I wanted the issue corrected. Reviews aren't intended to solve problems, they are intended to help others understand if they want to eat here. I waited 15 minutes for this order, even though it was the second one through the door and I had to go up to the counter to ask them to find the order. They looked me in the eye and handed me this, so clearly they didn't think this was a problem. Unfortunately, since this place is in a tournament facility, there aren't many other options for families stuck here, but with passive-aggressive responses to negative reviews, I guess my kids will be eating Dunkin' Donuts...
