My daughter found this place on Yelp and we decided to give it a try. It's a cute little spot off the beaten path. They were pretty busy when we arrived we had to wait for 45 minutes . Due to change in the season I guess they were offering outdoor seating . But it was worth the wait or you can just call ahead for a take out order they seem to have a lot of those orders. The decor in here is cute and felt homey. Staff was super friendly and hustling and bustling throughout our visit . They offer up some pastries and coffees if you are just looking for a quick bite.
We started off with some drinks. I ordered a ice cold brew , my daughters ordered a cereal latte and strawberry milk (a must try)!!! For starts we got an order of these delicious donut holes lightly dusted in a cinnamon sugar ( loved the texture) and a cinnamon roll( was a tad dryer then I'm use to but good flavor) I also ordered the tomato soup so good ( thick , creamy and full of flavor but side note it definitely needs to be serve with some croutons ,crostini or small piece of baguette). My oldest daughter ordered the special the drunken Roni which was delicious the focaccia bread had the perfect crisp and the arugula salad was a nice touch ( loved the dressing ) . My husband ordered the fried chicken sandwich OMG!! The Asian flavors drizzled over the chicken was delicious but this sandwich got a bit messy ( slight suggestion maybe using bibb lettuce instead of romaine the chicken slid right off the bread as soon as you tried to bite it ) and the home made taters were delicious. Now my youngest ordered the French toast which was delicious as well the challah bread was cooked to perfection accompanied with mascarpone cream and fresh fruits . My hat goes off to the chef for putting together such great flavors and making our experience a memorable one!! We will definitely be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery disappointing breakfast for a place that is so highly reviewed. My wife and I just came back from finally trying AH. We've been looking forward to visiting this restaurant for some time now as we are big breakfast lovers and have read many great reviews about this place. Sadly it did not live up to the expectations. I'll start with the positive. The ambiance they've created here is incredible. From all the beautiful flowers outside to the warm and inviting interior it really is a visually lovely establishment. My wife had the over night iced coffee and I had the regular in house coffee and both were delicious. The side of fries we ordered were tasty as well. As for our waitress she was lovely and very quick to fix an error with my breakfast sandwich and overall gave great service. Now for the negative. My wife and I split two dishes. The biscuit sandwich which we subbed bacon instead of the sausage that normally comes with it. Overall the sandwich was incredibly bland. The bacon was so tough it was closer to jerky than bacon and it surprisingly lacked any kind of taste, the biscuit itself was incredibly dry and had no flavor as well, and the side salad that came with it was nice but was overly dressed. As for the french toast for some reason it was very salty and unappetizing with the exception of the very nice berries that came with it. All of this for the Price of 47.00 before tip. So 57.00 in total a price we have no problem paying if we're getting a great meal which this most certainly wasn't. Obviously this restaurant is doing something right if they're getting these great reviews and they are as busy as they are but unfortunately for us we did not have a good experience and for the price we will likely not be trying this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been going to Almost Home since they opened. Iāve been there when theyāve had a 2 hour wait and when itās practically empty. Regardless of the crowd (or lack there of) I have never had a bad experience. The ambiance is exactly what youād get at a brunch spot over in the city - whether youāre in the Village, SoHo, or UES. Not knowing where to wait or simply check out for the to go coffee and baked good? Well thatās what youād get in the city. Yes, we donāt live in the cityā¦. But what the owner is trying to do is give many of us who have lived in the city that experience we all miss of Saturday and Sunday brunch; while also giving many a new experience of brunch in the burbs.
Let me talk about the food⦠I sadly struggle with an egg allergy. Each experience has been the best - Iāve been able to enjoy any option on the menu that has egg because theyāve been kind enough to replace it with a non chicken egg (I say it like this bc it somehow confuses many people). The menu options change which allow for innovative flavors and combinations- rather than the same old same old. Farm to table? Yes. Supporting other local businesses? Yes. Sorry what more could we want? Thatās stand up business practices right there.
Coffee⦠the thing that makes me human. Again, the options here for someone who struggles with a dairy allergy, Iām given endless options and when I happen to select something that has dairy, the individuals behind the bar offer an alternative solution without batting an eye.
Kudos to the owner for opening up a place in an area that needed a city brunch and coffee spot for those of us that are transplants to the burbs of NJ.
Wicked good job from the Bostonian that found a place locally that gives her a taste...
