Coyote is a place I've been frequenting since they opened. My parents first took me there when I was about 7 years old. The food and atmosphere hasn't changed much since then. Consistency in the food is key for me. I get hooked on certain dishes, and if I have a craving, I want it to taste EXACTLY how it did when I first tasted it.
My first suggestion: Go early. Doesn't really matter the day, but if it's a weekend, definitely get there early. Typically you will wait at least an hour on the weekend. If you get there at 7, more than an hour. They don't take reservations, so no use calling. My trick is, go around 8 pm, lurk by the bar and try to get seats there. If I'm with a group, we head there for 6, put our name in, grab some margs and enjoy some chips and salsa in the waiting area. No biggie!
The food is considered "Tex Mex", and it's full of spice and flavor. The salsa is killer. House made, full of chunks and corn. My personal favorite dishes are the Stir Fry, the Tostada la Casa, the Fiesta Quesadilla, and the Chicken Sedona. Absolutely make sure, if you're a fan of hot sauce, to ask for their sauce sampler. It's free, they bring you a basket of about 12 different house made hot sauces to try, complete with a descriptive list.
And did I mention... Margaritas?!?! They only allow you two of the ultimate, for very good reason, but I tend to stick with my skinny 1800s, they do me just fine! Their house mix is great too. And for dessert, if you're into alcoholic coffee bevs, do NOT leave without ordering a coyote coffee. They're to die for. Back in the day, when the Coyote staff was a bit more fun than they are today (sorry guys, you're still great, I just remember the Coyote 20 years ago), they used to get the whole restaurant to howl as they brought out your coffee (haha). It kind of made it more of a unique and fun experience.
Anyway, this is one of my favorite places to ever exist....

Have to start off by saying that I always thought this place was awesome…until just the other day after spending little over 1 hour and spending over $100 dollars.. We even pre paid the bill. We were returning customers and would of spent more future business here. Then this happened..as we were finishing up our so called strong Ultimate margarita drinks, that actually tasted like just the margarita mix. Then we were approached and told by the new management owner at our table..are you done yet!?.. because, we have a waiting list and we need to clear that table and make it available for other customers. This was completely uncalled for and by far very unprofessional. So after the fact when leaving we confronted and expressed our concerns with the (owner) and he could care less! Telling us to have a good day in a very sarcastic way. This was absolutely the worst experience out of any restaurant We’ve ever been too. We Could not believe that actually happened! We were completely in shock and speechless and taken back by this! The new owner is rude and inconsiderate and treats his employees horrible. We spoke with our waitress & staff to express our concerns as she was just doing her job…and she indicated this is not the first time the (owner) has done this to other well paying customers. There is plenty of Mexican places to go to and I would not recommend this place anymore which is unfortunate because this place used to be awesome with old management. She even expressed that so many employees have left this environment. So moving forward to support other small businesses just not this one anymore. I would have rate this place 0 Stars! ...
Read moreIt was my son’s 22nd birthday and we wanted to celebrate. Last year we came to this restaurant for his graduation dinner and enjoyed ourselves. Today was a different story. We walked in and we were greeted by friendly personnel, smiling faces, and a nice aroma. After being seated our waitress introduced themself and we placed our orders. I ordered the pork pastor fajitas and was looking forward to my meal. 40 minutes later our food arrived cold. I tried some of the meat as well as the peppers and onions, both were cold. I told waitress and she proceeded to take my plate and bring it back to the kitchen. Here’s where the problems began. The cook apparently removed the cold items from my plate and replaced them with “warmer” items. When the plate was brought back, it was the same food, and not a new order. I told the waitress that this was unacceptable, because the food should have been remade entirely. She gave me a strange look, as though I was asking for something unusual. Common practice at most restaurants is to throw away any food that has been sent back. Clearly this is not the case here. I would expect more sanitary practices from an establishment. In addition, the taco meat was seasoned with a heavy hand. Not the best experience at this restaurant. Disappointed to say the least, we will not...
