Where to begin… There were four of us for my mother’s 88th birthday. We sat outside and had trouble putting up the umbrella (it was close to 90 and sunny), the person at the host stand was watching us and did not offer to help. Oh, well…we got it up and not a big deal, though it adds to the other number of issues. We got there in time for Happy Hour to take advantage of the $ off of specialty cocktails and frozen drinks, per the advertisement. My mother asked what frozen drink options they had and server said they didn’t have frozen drinks there…okay, let’s move on to cocktails. Two at the table ordered “specialty cocktails” that tasted like water, no joke. Calamari was fishy…calamari is not supposed to be fishy. Calamari is a go-to for us when we eat out. We sent back the calamari. The brussels were tasty, but very greasy. My partner ordered the ribeye RARE, came out well-done. Sent it back, took 15-20 minutes to get a new one…this time medium rare to medium well - he kept it because he didn’t want to wait another 20 minutes since the rest of us were just about done with food by the time he got the 2nd overcooked ribeye. The green beans were supposed to be with garlic and butter, his came out plain and he did not get the peppercorn demi glace that was supposed to come with the steak. My plain filet was cooked perfectly, but was cold. The mashed potatoes come pre-cooked in a bag (per the servers info, when I requested potatoes without dairy)…which leads to our issue with the quality of the food. It was poor quality and very disappointing. The steak tasted like nothing and my mother needed to use all of her muscle and a steak knife to get through her ribs, they were SO tough. She said the crab cake was all crab (which was a positive) but so overly seasoned that she couldn’t eat it. Oh, and my $6 bottle of Pellegrino was room temperature. I am allergic to dairy and had to tell the server multiple times as each time she suggested something on the menu for me with dairy - the mashed potatoes, the buttered green beans and when I asked if they had goat cheese, she told me I could get gouda, cheddar or buffalo mozzarella 🤦🏻♀️. There were kids next to us and food all over the ground, which wasn’t picked up before they sat the next group. Gross. The setting is lovely as were the people I was with. They didn’t even comp us anything for having to wait so long for the overcooked steak. Don’t waste your time or money here. Oh, and if you do go…feel free to bring your dog (regardless of what the message says when you call - there was a lady bringing her dog around to various tables there that wanted to pet it) - we would have brought ours if...

Our venue was the perfect location with water views, indoor and outdoor options, and a chill atmosphere. The food options were aplenty and our main menu items of Brisket, Salmon, and Hot Honey Chicken were a hit! I even had a guest ask if they could take some home with them. We loved how we chose our His and Her bar drinks and our Georgia Peach and Coconut Mojito were on point. The staff from Tiffany, our planner, to our bartenders, the servers, and more were so helpful at every turn. If it looked like we needed anything they were immediately checking in on us. It was amazing to see even the folks working the outside deck willing to jump in and just be there to help us celebrate too. Did I mention the after party on the deck? The bartenders were keeping all of our guests happy and entertained too! 10/10
Coordinator at Deep Blue: Tiffany Abruzzo - From the moment we toured the Kitty Knight we knew it was meant I be for us. Tiffany made the location feel like home for us. Any call, text or email was handled with care and we are so lucky to have had her be there with us. She truly felt like a part of the family making sure everything went just right. Even when she brought us some extra w blankets to our room after hours the night before the wedding. What a joy to work with! 10/10
Accommodations: The Kitty Knight Inn - @deepblueatkittyknight The Kitty Knight Inn offers great views, history throughout the inn, and each room is unique. I wanted to take a look at each room, but had the chance to see inside 4 of the 11 rooms. We sold the place out and all of our guests loved being able to stay on...
Read moreI am well overdue on leaving a glistening review for Deep Blue at Kitty Knight. The biggest five-star feature of this restaurant is the staff, who both front and back of house are super awesome and seem to be having a good time while at work. My partner and I have gone together for birthdays and anniversaries and recently went with some family and friends; we've found the atmosphere perfect for both a date night and a fun time with a group. The staff are always incredibly kind, energetic, and fun to talk to. The location on the Sassafras is truly stunning, and having the option to dine inside or outside on the deck makes it a perfect option regardless of the weather. I first decided to make a reservation at Deep Blue because comparing its prices with restaurants in nearby communities (Chestertown, Rock Hall) placed it as one of the most affordable. It is definitely a special occasion sort of place, and by no means a cheap outing, but it has been worth the expense every time. I've enjoyed perfectly-prepared salmon dishes, salads with unique summer dressings, and shareable fruit desserts with loved ones throughout the past few years. I encourage anyone looking for a welcoming, friendly atmosphere and a delicious meal to celebrate at...
